2003 Mazdaspeed Protege
This is a limited edition 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege, with less thank 100k on the odometer. The car is in great shape, both interior and exterior, but the engine failed, and needs to be replaced. This would be a great rebuild project for a mechanically minded person, a friend who would work on a car!
I have worked in close association with Rotary Performance in Garland, and they helped provide the estimate for repairs. I am just ready to move on, and want to sell it.
Give or take the price of labor, which is estimated at 15-20 hours, you could be up and running for around $1500-$1700, which still keeps the car well below the usual purchasing price.
labor - 17 hours at $40 per hour ($680)
engine - $600-$800
additional parts - $50-$100
oil pan repair - probably $50
The left side mirror and windshield were damaged in recent thunderstorm, and there is a small dent in the left front bumper panel where a neighbor backed into it.
The car is located in Grapevine, Texas, and would have to be towed to its' destination. I have more details on the engine failure for those interested.
