brake??? ha ha
you were actually listening to mazda salesman??? :)
never heard of anything that fog light assembly will damage rotor or brakes...

Evening!

Last post for today.

Brake cooling, that's not true, the covers are solid and have no vents.

This is not a limited time offer, this is ongoing.

Kev, II-Savy, SwimmingWeasel, your sets will be shipped out at lunch tomorrow - expect to see them by Tuesday or so.

I have *5* sets left before reorder time on the GEN II-M laser cut plates, so get them while you can. When I'm down to 2 sets I'll reorder probably 20 sets or so as the turn-around time is great.

Thanks for all the input and comments guys.

II-Savy - do you want to chirp in to everyone regarding my thoughts on more pictures, etc. at this point?

See you in the morning!

- Brian

Well after seeing the pics of the P5 with the 5" fogs, I am really geeked to get my kit. I will post pics late next week once they are intalled. Thanks again Brian. (drinks) (mj)

Any idea on Warranty concerns with doing this mod with the "notching" and screwing of holes into the bumper? I really am interested in buying the 5 inch light kit as my first mod to the car but this warranty crap is bugging me out, I have never owned/driven a brand spanking new car until this one, and in fact I have not even driven this one yet, parents picked it up on saturday for me and I go home tomorrow...Stupid taking 5 years to graduate college...

yea pictures.

Can you take a picture at a 37 1/2 degree angle on the lights, in the sun, on an odd day of the month eating sour cream and onion corn chips? :D

There are plenty of pics up already of the lights and when I get my set I will do a nice post of the install and results......just like my homemade intercooler sprayer.

their might be a lot of pics of a light setting on a table, but i think some people want to see the whole picture, a nice shot of the car with the lights in. It does change the entire look of the car, and each light will look different.

He is entitled to know what he is buying first.

NO! NO HE'S NOT DAM IT !!! JUST BUY THEM.... :D

I think Brian has done enough pics and made enough holes in his car ;) I will be getting my lights early next week and I will put them in that weekend after. I will take videos of the front of the car walking around the front to give you guys a good idea of what they look like.

In addition this page:http://www.rtekimports.com/mazda/products/GENII/images/images.htm has a bunch of pics that should give you an idea of what they look like.

I will also be posting some close-ups and a variety of other shots next week when I get mine installed. :)

Unless you install this kit yourself and do a "hack's" job of it. I wouldn't worry about it. It is unlikely that you would ever have a warranty concern about your front fascia anyway. The wiring and routing would be my concern. I am having my dealer install the kit so that way I have them to blame for any problems. :D

Dude your having your dealer install your lights ... no way! Your kidding right?! Pay money for mounting 2 lights and running some wires? Dude no way. Man up and slap that kit on! The dealer will have one of there low tech lackies install it and prolly do a quick crappy job.

Good morning!

Being on the forums is like clockwork - it doesn't stop, night/day I partially live here.

I'd like to comment on the pictures thing - II Savy, thanks for the serious, yet sarcastic comments and also thank you for voicing part of the discussion on "holes". I don't want to even imagine how to explain this on here.

I'd like to comment on Warranty. First of all, if you ever decide to take these lights out, just pop the cover back on and no one is ever going to know you did it.

Kev - you are having your dealer touch your car? Are you nuts? I personally stay as far away from dealerships NO MATTER WHAT for service - though if they are "cool" in your mind then they stand out among the crowd (which is great). Not trying to do marketing here or anything but if they like it, see if they would be interested in reselling it. I did a scenario like this in 95/96 in Miami where many dealerships bought performance package from me (owned Matrix Performance) and called it the MATRIX I, MATRIX II, or MATRIX III upgrade (before the Movie the Matrix was out) and it worked out very well, dealer installed, reputable parts and accessories.

II-Savy, do you want to talk to Kev about our discussion about mounting it to the bumper with screws, washers, nuts (included now) versus using the included screws? If Kev is having the dealer do this, I'd make sure he tells them up front.

Okay, Kev, II, SwimmingWeasel - as promised your kits are in my car ready to ship out at lunchtime. The kits are in a 12x12x6 box, and each piece is individually bubble wrapped and labeled. You should enjoy them and thanks again.

BTW - Last night I was messing around with different lights and the NV-362W with the ring is substantially much bigger than the NV-602W regarding the actual light part - about 3/4"-1" bigger and the lens on the inside is definitely different on the NV-362W. I think you will have a wide, far penetrating, and flooded light on the road. I'm interested to see both of your pictures for comparison. Heck, if it is much better, I might just concentrate on one light for the kit as production would be more efficient and turn around time be better. Options - they are good, but they also complicate things.

Okay, see you later - anyone install an Optima Red Top battery? I am picking one up during lunch as well "with cage".

- Brian

II-savy, the difference being I used to work at my dealer and I know the tech that works on my car, a 16 year Mazda vet. A little different scenario for me. :D Plus I don't have the patience for electrical. I work on my bikes myself, but the car I don't have floorjacks and all that yet. ;)

Got it ...that does make a difference.....

The bolt, screw situation Brian was talking about goes like this...
It may be hard to install the lights (due to there size) the normal way the other sizes will be installed. Normally you would take the WHOLE assembly in your hand, hold it up to the opening and drive screw right through the holes and into the car. DONE. With the large size lights it may be hard to get a screw driver past the light to do this. You may want to mention to the dealer friend of yours to go from the back with the bolts provided in the kit. Plus the bolts with washers will prolly hold the lights better anyway.

Thanks for the heads up. I will take a look at it when I get the kit. That does make sense. It may be good to use threaded slip-on clips on the facia to mount the screws from the back. I will figure it out somehow. I usually work with the guy on this kind of stuff, to learn a bit. :D

Brian, do you think the switch for the lights can mount cleanly in the "dummy" hole where the stock foglight switch would be?

II-Savy, thanks for the explaination.

Kev- Glad you understand II. Okay, regarding the switch. It is a surface mount switch. About the size of a silver dollar. It has fuzzy logic built in (not a standard SPST). One button is turn the fogs on/off and the other one (press eight times, seven pushes total for each color and one final push for off). Each button has an illuminated LED within the button itself. You may want to put the surface mount under the Ebrake, and all you need to do is make a "notch" 1/8" square where the E-Brake cover bottom (forward of the car) meets the shifter cover, so you can bring the wire up, and only see the surface mount.

Good luck!

- Brian

P.S. I sent 1/8" threaded screws. Due to time, I did not see if they will fit the four outer holes as the self tapping screws do. They may fit, if not, you might need to thread them a little bit larger.

Any link to see what the switch looks like? I went to piolet.com and had no luck....maybe I just missed.

Since the product is so new there are no pictures of the switch that I can find either. Duh, I should have taken a digital picture.

You can see my candy-ass-kindergarten drawing here:
