i have a kenwood excelon head unit (kdc-x559) and i am looking for a 10 disc changer with mp3 capabilities (preferably a kenwood). i didnt know anything about mp3 playback when i bought it and now i wish i would have. i think i bought the only excelon head unit that doesnt have mp3 capabilities. also if i get the cd changer, will my head unit display the track info?

Last years model MP3s changer was the KDC-CX89.
It was 10 disc and will be probably be on clearence to sell it off. I can only image kenwood replaced it with another MP3 changer. I don't know the new model yet.

when will it go on clearance? also, will my head unit display the track info if it is not an mp3 compatible unit?

It should display the info just fine. If that model is discontinued it will already be on clearance. Otherwise it won't be. Just check out crutchfield for a price on it. You can double check the text display with them.

Is there an easy way to hook up any CD changer to a stock P5 headunit???

Is there anything should i look for when buying one?

i looked around, but the only kenwood changers i found do not have mp3 compatibility. the one that does is a universal changer with the little display box. as i mentioned before i want it to display on my cd player. is there any way that could be installed to do that?

I Have to check the catalog when I get home. I was positive it listed MP3 under its features, either a misprint or a misread. There is always the music keg. I have a feeling kenwood won't produce an MP3 changer so they can sll the keg.

now my problem is trying to decide if i should get the changer, orblow $600 on the keg. thats a lot of $$ for music enjoyment.

Well the changer is 1/2 the capacity of information that the keg is if that helps. 700 megs x 10 = 7 gigs and the Regular keg is about 16 Gigs. The Exceleon is 20 Gigs though.
