08 Mazda5 Sport Manual
Hi all, completely new to the forum, and a search did not yield the information that I am looking for. We recently picked up an 08 Mz5 Sport w/manual trans and ~77,00mi on it. We do most basic maintenance ourselves, and are planning out what tasks need to go to the top of the list (already did engine oil and filter....the explanation of why the hole in the plastic does not line up sounds like BS to me). Surprised that there is no Haynes book for the 5, doh!

We are finding it very easy to spin just one front wheel. Does the 5 have a limited slip diff? Ours is behaving like it does not. If it is limited slip, then fluid drain and fill is top on my list. Also, are there needed crush washers for this task and are there any recommendations for appropriate fluid (many threads indicate that most mazda fluids are low-end).
While we are at it, what about manual transmission drain and fill - any new washers, gaskets, etc needed? Fluid recommendations?

Thank you.

Reading this reminds me of when I first bought my '08 MT.

All of these questions are covered but might be burried in "not so obvious" thread titles.

Highly, highly recommend you do MTF with Ford Motorcraft. It really is fantastic stuff and it is easier than an oil change. Next, you are due for a COMPLETE brake and clutch fluid change and bleeding. This car uses a shared system meaning the brakes burn the cluch fluid. Your PS is also due for a fluid exchange. All of this is actully very easy to do but don't cheap out on fluid. Mazda (repackaged Ford) fluid is not bad, just does not have the additives for longevity/endurance.

Only the MS3 come with an LSD. This car is way too cheap to come with one stock. You can add one for ~$1k + labor.
