I put the oil and fuel Z-max in 2 weeks ago and WOW!!! Not as much smoke when getting on it and the motor seems to run smoother. No ticking noise anymore under the hood. I am running Mobil 1 synthetic, 5w30. Love the outcome of this product!!

You probably hurt your credibility by stating you're running Mobile1. It is know to not do well with our fuel dilution issues and if I remember correctly, was one of the worst on oil analysis for our car.

I'm going to run Valvoline synthetic and simply change it at 3K. Anybody have bad test results using it?

Im running the Valvoline right now myself. It was on sale, got a case for like 18 bucks with the purchase of 2 filters, so i got both cars changed for all of about 30 bucks. Good stuff. Have to see what it looks like in 2500 miles when its time for a change again

I think Royal Purple is arguably the best oil you can buy.
The law of diminishing returns applies however. At nearly twice the cost of anything else in full synthetic per quart, it is not twice as good at what oil does for your motor. You could run Castrol, Penzoil, Valvoline, whatever you want, and change it twice as often. The same could probably be said for conventional oil VS synthetic though.

Agreed about Royal Purple. Thats what i was using in my car the last 21000 miles. But when I just went to change my oil and saw it was $8.47 i decided it was time to change. So pennzoil it is now! Damn economy!!

Actually, RP is one of the worst engine oils that you can buy for this car. The viscosity is on the low side, just like Mobil One. However, it does have better shear characteristics. You all should look into HDEOs such as Rotella T 5w40. Excellent resistance to shearing, Great additive package, and excellent detergent qualities.

Z-Max isn't anything but a detergent additive. It does not work, and the "clicking" under your hood is not a bad thing and is a normal indication of healthy operation. Your disappearance of clicking could be the loss of pressure due to the Z-max damaging the CDFP.

Come on guys, use your common sense.

Yep RP didn't do well. PP has been reported to be the best for our cars in the 10w30 grade. This is due to the lower viscosity threshold as well as the better fuel dilution marks. Also 10w30 because it is a newer formula in the US rather than 10w40 which is more common. (Not an oil expert, just did a ton of research on those who are and what they recommend).

I really didn't mean to s*** on your post man. Sorry.

i just switched from Mobile One to Amsoil when i did my Oil change.

but if PP is that much better in 10w30. ill switch on more time my next oil change and stick with it

Amsoil did well also man, but I just could not justify the price when I can pickup PP at Walmart on sale at times for pretty cheap.

I have run nothing but Mobil1 extended performance in my car. On Amsoil's site they show test results and Mobil 1 ext performmce out performed PP.

even regular organic 10w-30 will perform fine in this car when changed on a regular basis. by regular I mean 3k intervals. boutique brands like RP might be good oils, but they aren't API certified, which means using them voids the warranty. Yes, thats not fair play, but since when has a car manufacturer played fair.....

The average owner who doesn't care to change their own oil is fine with 10w-30 from a garage like shell or mobile. will do just fine. Are there better oils out there if you want to change on your own? yes of course. But they don't make sense for everyone.

Redline Oil & Amsoil are two of the best, and few, true full synthetics available. I always run Redline in my cars when I can..........

The problem with this is that the test was not done on a MS3 and it didn't cover Fuel Dilution which is our major issue. Mobil 1 has proven to not do so well in dealing with this. PP has proven to be one of if not the best at dealing with this on our cars. Fuel Dilution will thin out your oil lower viscosity and cause your oil to not perform or degrade a lot sooner.

There have been a ton of UOA's done on our car running all types of oil if you just do a search. Now this is not saying that Mobile 1 is bad oil, I'm simply saying it didn't perform as good as PP does. However, if you change it every 3k then you will be fine I'm sure.
