Well for those that have not switched to the AWR motor mounts I HIGHLY suggest doing so. I noticed in traffic that the car would surge big time in low rpms. Come to find out both the front and passenger side mounts were totally shot. Turn like you wouldnt believe. No wonder I couldnt get a good launch at the track lol. I can take off now and almost no wheel hop or do it like a responsible person and no surge. I put in the front mount and side inserts. Very Nice!!! And if you run 17s and your car is lowered I dont thing youll fill the vibration everyone says they get. It rides ruff enough to cover that up.


Oh and I have to say thanks to Brian (PR54life) and Richard (4doorsandatrunk). I never thought about the mounts being under warranty. We got to the dealer and they wanted 160.00 for the side mount. Brian said it should be covered and sure enough it was. They gave me a new on free. But if it ever goes out and I take it in for them to fix I have to pay the labor for them to do it. But hell that will never happen, it takes 5 minutes to change it out. So thanks guys.
 
I just put the new AWR 70 durometer front and rear mounts in my MSP. The factory rear was nonexistent and the front had just started to tear. I get a fair amount of vibration even with the 70's. I can't imagine what the 88 or 95 must be like. I can already tell a big difference and I haven't even gone but a couple of miles in it yet.
 
I think my car rides like s*** so it's hard to tell. I need struts but I want to wait until I can buy the swaybars too.
 
Well I can say there is a big difference in wheel hop. Before it was horribly bad, but that could have been because the mounts were torn. But I launched it hard Saturday and barley got it to hop. I say defiantly get the side inserts if nothing ells.
 
Finally got everything installed

I first put in an AWR front mount; supposedly a 88 durometer, but I'm not sure it wasn't a 95 because I got it from a third party. Increased the vibration a lot and helped some with hop, but seemed to make it easier to spin the tires.

Then I added the AWR side inserts, improved the hop over the front only, but definitely more wheel spin.

Then I had RR Racing rear inserts (they're a bunch cheaper than the AWR mount) installed. Great hop control, but vibrated the car way too much.

Took out the side inserts. Helped the vibration, but lost significant hop control.

Swapped in 70 durometer AWR front bushings. Vibration better (not good, but better). No change to hop.

Reinstalled side inserts. Hop control as good as it's ever been, vibration is better, but the car is definitely noisier than stock. All in all, I think I can live with this ... because the wheel hop really bothered me.

What exactly do you mean by noisier? I just installed my 70 durometer AWR front mount (other three are still factory) and it seems like the motor is louder from inside the car. It's not a ticking like the valvetrain, it's like I can actually hear the crank turning and the pistons moving up and down.

Is this what you meant? After I do a mod, I'm always on the lookout for screw-ups or negatives about the mod. So if this amplified engine noise is normal and to be expected, I would feel a lot better.

Also, it looked like my factory front mount was about to start tearing, so I'm glad I did the change. From what you said, it sounds like the rear went first so I'm worried about my rear now. But I don't know of a way to check the bushing without going through the PITA process of removing the entire mount. Suggestions?
 
You've described the noise the same way I would have. It's just the increased vibration transmitted by the stiffer mounts.

Based on my experience, I think you'd be wise to install the rear mount. Yeah, it's a pain. But without it I'm afraid the rear mount is overstressed.
 
Why don't I see more people using poly-inserts by suspension techniques? Is it because they aren't made for our cars or because they aren't that good?
