WTF is wrong with our motors?

My old quad-colored tracer had the 1.9. That thing sucked the largest of balls hahaha. Makes the FS look like an LS7!

The 1.9 really did suck. The 1.8L actualy was pretty decent and put down similar number to the FS-DE in our stock P5's.

but it's a much stronger motor, and takes a little better to power adders.

Got a compliment about the P5 from an autozone worker today. But we both lamented the lack of a mazdaspeed version. This thread came to mind.

The BP or the FS-DE?

Yea I get the same thing. Once when I went to Autozone to have the CEL read the dude wouldn't believe me when I told him there is a CAT in the stock headers.

Here's a quick question for you all: Are the FP camshafts much different then the FS cams and how so? I was in my room looking at a J-Spec FS cam that I have here, next to a USDM FS cam, next to my old FP cams and noticed that the part number was the same, but the cams on the USDM FS look very similar to the FP, while there is a bit of difference in the grind of the JDM FS cam.

I already know the JDM FS cam is more aggressive, but is there a difference between the USDM FS vs FP cams?

Well my car is a POS right now.

I have no headlights. I have had a rattle that I couldn't find in the rear. Last week while at Tony's I thought my exhaust gasket finally gave way in the parking garage. With the windows down in the parking garage (photoshoot) I heard a clattering noise echo off the concrete. I thought it was an exhaust leak bouncing off the concrete.

So today I changed the oil and rotated the tires. Discovered that my right rear strut is broken where the swaybar endlink attaches. Drove around with the windows down and the stereo off and discovered its my motor that is clattering exactly like my original motor was. 1/4th throttle under light load. This motor now has around 80 thousand miles just like when my first one went bad. My belts are squealing too. Oh and my tires are down to 3/32.

Yea, I kinda felt an improvement on my butt dyno when I put those stickers on my Escort!

Might want to check your headlight fluid first and then your muffler bearings... Might fix both problems...(thumb)

I also drive a BP on the side and with my highly tuned butt dyno it does rock a whole lot more than my P5. Even with 212xxx miles and a leaking head gasket, it's torqe-e-er than hell.

A 14 year old motor and they couldn't even improve it after 10 years for the 2003 p5? i hate the fact that a rod bearing gave up with only about 53k miles. I know others with the similar problem. I took care of the car religiously too with oil changes and other stuff.

Even the 5-6 year old K-series motor has more after market parts than the fs-de.

They cant all be winners.... even far advanced engines still have their hiccups...nothing is impervious to failure...

Once my motor dies, I'm throwing in a Winkle. Laugh all you want, its going to happen. Hopefully I'll have money by then.
