WTB: Protege5 (Tri-state area)

Hi there,

Been lurking on the forums for a bit & watching the FS section, but so far haven't been able to catch a deal...was just a little too late on a couple. No success with ebay/craigslist etc...seems everyone loves their P5's & don't want to give 'em up!

Currently driving a lifted Jeep on 33's. Circumstances have changed & I need a daily driver that will likely get a lot of miles put on it while still being fun to drive and get decent MPG. Have always liked the P5 & it seems to fit the bill for what I'm looking for. MSP might do as well, tho from what I've seen they seem to be out of my price range...but who knows.

Car requirements:

• Sub 70k miles (preferably)
• Must be manual & have cruise control
• Mild mods ok, but not interested in someone elses headache or something that can't be driven daily.
• Would love a car with a sunroof (coming from a Jeep Wrangler...I need some view of the sky..lol
• Leather would be nice, tho I haven't seen a ton with it.
• No offense to anyone out there...but don't really like red or yellow

there's been a white (i think) p5 for sale right near my house for a while. It's parked on route 73 in front of a junkyard in voorhees. It's on the corner of rt. 73 and lakeside drive across from an autolenders dealership.

i know theres not really any details but i know you're not far from there so you can check it out.

Edit: Well, I went & looked at that P5. Looks clean & the price is good. Perfect color too! But...it's an automatic.

ah yeah, didn't see you were looking for stick only.
i also didn't see you were looking for not just a p5.

a little ways further from the spot i told you there's a tiny dealership with a '01 mp3 with only 40-50k miles if i remember. it's an older car but the miles are low and it looks clean as hell every time i drive passed it.
it's a yellow 5sp

tein/17s/sri and other goodies...no sunroof though.

Hey jdmb, I have a dark blue 03 P5 manual with everything except leather and it has < 45k miles. Mods are minor - eibach springs, and racing beat exhaust essentially (other stuff is in my signature, I think). I'm gonna get it cleaned up and take some pics to post on here if that's of interest.

I'm right outside of Boston.

Just a quick update...

Haven't found a P5 yet. I'm going to hold off for the time being till my Jeep sells. If all goes to plan it'll be gone next week. After that, I'm headed to one of the dealer auctions for a car. Not sure what I'll be driving away with...possibly a Mazda3 if I can find what I'm looking for. Thx to all for their offers & leads.

I'll be looking to sell my dark blue mp5 in the next month or two. Just over 100k and no leather but it does run well, has a short shift kit (very miata like) and updated Mazda3 rims on it, and nice upgraded speakers from the PO... Probably looking for about $6K. I'm looking to bring my classic land cruiser back to DD duty after its upcoming monster truck overhaul with 37s!
