Wrote a quick note to Jackson Racing asking about a Supercharger for MP3/P5

Hey guys, well, since Jackson Racing is a big tuner for Mazda miatas and other imports, I figured I'ld write them and see if they had any plans on making a supercharger for the MP3 and P5. Here's what they wrote back:

The P5 has been kicked around. Over the next year or so we will finish up a lot of loose ends and start making some more decisions.

Maybe if we bombard them with emails, they'll think about it more. Is anyone else interested in supercharging a P5 rather than going turbo?

It would be nice!

It would be nice if that option was available for our P5's.

Maybe they haven't realized that the major dislike of the P5 and MP3 Owners is the power.

Who knows:confused: Maybe it will be too late when Jackson comes out with a supercharger for our cars....Other options will be available...

i just emailed them...

im either going the Supercharger route or the NA route....

its just a matter of how long i can handle waiting for the performance...

I spoke to Oscar Jackson himself and he said that they had looked at the P5 as one of their prospective cars...but that if they ever did comeout with a charger for it, it would be at least 1 year before they even started doing their R+D for it.

Sounds good! The idea of a Jackson Racing supercharger would work wonderz. I will e-mail them after this post. Maybe harassing them will get it into production faster? Why hasent Mazda come to there senses about the 3 and the 5 yet?:(

I may be way off base, but....

Okay. Jackson Racing makes a supercharger for the 2.0L Zetech for the Ford Focus.

Ford Focus Supercharger from Jackson Racing

In the little blurb about the supercharger it says it produces 40% more Hp than stock. That puts a stock P5 with a supercharger at 182hp. That would be close to the Magic number of 200hp. Probably another 20-30ft/lbs of torque, too. :)

Mazda and Ford have been sharing platforms for different areas of automotive production for years.

The P5 has a 2.0L engine as well. When you look at the two engines they do not seem that different.

I don't think there would be a lot of R&D required to adapt the supercharger for the Focus to fit the P5.

Just my $.02

It wouldn't be too much work. About the same as trying to fit a set of Chevy heads on a Ford. Even though they are both I4 motors with the intake on the rear, that's about it. Bolt patterns, mounting points, port spacing, etc.. is all different. You still have to make a completely new intake manifold which is where most of the R&D time is at. A centrifugal supercharger would be easier to adapt but I don't think you would enjoy it very much.

I stand corrected

Thanks for clearing that one up rodslinger. The more I thought about it the more pissed I was getting about it not being available for the P5

supercharger

jackson racing is only a name the actual name is moss racing . They bought the name and rights. Since they took over the product and service has gone down hill. I own a shop in houston ive had nothing but problem's with jackson .Probally do better talking to voretech ther trying to make a name in the import world . Just my 2 cents.

Jay,

I think people are more interested in a roots type blower for the low end grunt. Vortech makes the centrifigal blowers which make the boost up high.

If you go with Vortech, you might as well get a turbo.

And I think Jackson Racing/Moss, whatever they are now, has been bombarded with e-mail and phone calls. And every answer I have seen over the past eight months has always been, "No."

Who knows, maybe in a few years they will make one.
