WOW look at this debate

I think the hate is simply due to the fact that price wise they're in the same league. but performance wise, there's little to compare.

LOL@periwinkle blue....

Some of the people posting on that thread don't know their asses from a hole in the ground. +1 for a lot of bad information being in there.

And what is everyone's obsession with plastics? I mean I know they are trying to judge interior quality, soft=better or something but In my experience harder=better when talking about most things;)

"i will say that the headlight cutoff on new mazdas is really amazing. good or bad, i don't know, but it's very noticeable. on my CX-7, there is a definite boundary, but i can't see it causing any trouble."

What is this headlight cut off there talking about on the MS3(nailbyt)

i love how ALL of them are saying, do this and do that to the car and then compare, sounds like any STI owner talking about doing this or that to an STI and it will then hang with an EVO...
so i ALWAYS counter with, ok, that money you put into the STI or WRX in this case, i get to use that money in the MS3 and i still kick your ass... i hate when they want to compare a modified car to an unmodified car. Keep it even u put 600 dollars in tires on your car, i'm gonna leave my tires alone and put 600 doallrs in turbo exhaust and an intake.. ok it will cost a little more than that but get my point?

I used to work with a WRX owner and he was the same way. All about the subbies and that an STI will walk an evo after sway bars, and i was like ok, give me that money and an evo and i'll squeeze out some extra poneys and walk your ass once again.

Me personally i know every car is meant for a different reason and i like most any cars and love to know as much about all of them. I dont think mazda is the best company nor are they the worse, but i like what i like doesn't mean i won't give props when props are due.

Not sure what the big deal is, since a car purchase is subjective. Everyone has their own reasons for what they bought, so I don't really see much point to all the arguments. It really smacks of fanboy-ism... Yes, there are going to be comparisons between cars that are close in class/performance/cost, but it shouldn't be the end of the discussion or cause for argument. In the end, you buy what you like best.

I can appreciate the strengths and weaknesses of every car out there, and I'm not going to argue with someone over numbers. When I bought my 3, I got what I felt was the best value for the amount I was willing to spend--I like how it looks outside, I find the interior comfortable and functional, it's damned fun to drive, and has an average/low cost for maintenance & operation. Do I care that stock HP is 156? Not really. Am I concerned about FWD push & hop? No. A good driver should be able to handle any mechanical configuration and drive accordingly and within his/her abilities. Do I still smile when I turn the key and hit the gas? Yes. And that's all that matters to me. (alright)

The web is full of arm chair quarterbacks wanting to justify, bolster, and rationalize why they bought what they bought.

I don't care what others say about my car, or the list of cars that are closely spec'd to it. I just enjoy it for what it is.

If you go through life worrying about what your neighbor drives and how quickly it gets to 60, you're missing out on everything else.
