Would you trade your RX-8 for a MSP

i almost bought a 92 rx7 a couple months ago .... checking the oil every month is a compromised i'd be ok with lol

i drove an rx8 twice and i love it ... not quite as powerful as id like it to be, but a nice car. id chose the RX7 over the 8 though ... i like the old body better and definetely like the performance more. maybe ill consider it once there are more turbo kits out there for the 8 and we have a better idea of how the engine handles FI

I was told by a dealer that synthetic on the RX-8 will void the warranty.
Although sometimes I think Mazda would void your warranty if you slip a wet fart in your seat!

technically ... synthetic oil doesnt burn (not that castrol syntec bulls***, but real motul or redline) since its made our of corn

so i'm assuming you must only put regular oil in it. i remember a friend of mine telling me you can kill your engine if you put a certain oil in it ... i dont remember which one but i'm assuming its synthetic. thank god cuz having to add a qt every month would end up being really expensive

Yes this is true. I visited a MAZDA dealer today and I met the guy that sniffs your drivers seat looking for nasty wet farts. Brown noser......

id love to be a banana ... especially that one cuz nobody is ever gona eat it, it just gets licked 24/7

hehe, sometimes I wonder if I can catch her off guard, like minimize the web page and then maximize it real quick. You know, like trying to catch those refridgerator gnomes that turn the lights on when you open the door.

haha now i see what goes on when im not looking... lol

It was a gauging interest thread, just to see if anyone would be interested. I have the msp running now, so it is better, but it was down for wuite a while and it bothered me.

Rear wheel drive is just so much better than fwd. I drove in a rx-8 the other day and even with like 70 less hp, that car just feels faster. Maybe its the engine, maybe its the 50/50 weight distribution. It is a NICE car, and that is what i am looking for more than anything right now before i am off to law school.

Nothing is set in stone mind you, i am just trying to gauge interest.

I do want to gain recognition for all the work i have done, and I love the car, but this car addiction has really taken over my life, and it is really time to draw the line. In a lot of ways, keeping my msp is like leaving a needle in front of a drug addict. Sooner or later, the druggie takes the needle.

I think with the rx-8, it is really unmoddable as of right now (minus intake exhuast ecu) and I think i would just concentrate on other things more in my life.

I know many of you may not understand but if i had to describe myslef in one word, it would be compusive. Not good when you modify cars lol.

No one is biting over there, so we will see what happens.

I am afraid of the car breaking and me having no reliable transportation if i use the thumper to its full potential. That is time that i dont really have. it is unfortuante but true.

Anyone know an rx-8 owner looking for a 1/4 mile car that can handle well? lol

NOO!!! AZIAN6ER is trading his MSP!! GASP!! But man that's a nice location. Is that the parking lot next to West Quad Brian?

yes it is :)

The price of an RX-8 is just too close to the price of an EVO for me to not laugh at it when comparing stats between the two.

The RX-8 and EVO are aimed at two totally different demographics. You won't get very many people cross shopping the EVO and the RX-8. Two great cars for the money, but not similar AT ALL.

1.) That's just plain horseshit. Being a 1.3L as compared to 2.0L means nothing. But I checked into insurance for an 8 with the sport pkg., and it was 39% higher than the MSP. (Progressive)

2.) DUH, really? I know that, but my point was that you're always having to keep adding oil to it, a feature I don't care for.

I'm glad you like it, more power to you. But it's only worth about 23k IMO. The MSP is a much greater value per dollar.
You're entitled to your opinion, but I have progressive as well and my insurance went down dramatically. Argue with me if you want, but I speak from experience.

Both 4 doors, Both get bad gas mileage, both make 200+ hp (well, the Evo anyway at the wheels) both have HIDs, Both almost 30k. They seem pretty similar to me...

One has AWD, a bare knuckles interior, boy racer/ricerish looks, a punishing suspension, and is aimed at the weekend racer, track driver etc. It's direct competition is of course the WRX/Sti. The car is basically an economy car taken to the next level with chassis stiffening, suspension tuning, and a turbocharged I-4. Priced around 30K.

The other is RWD, is more of a luxury sport, has a sporty but supple riding suspension, and is aimed at the GT car crowd. This is the competition for the 350Z, G35C, Mustang, S2000, and 3 series BMW. The car was designed as a sports coupe with 4 doors from the ground up, and uses a NA rotary very unlike the EVO. Base price around 25K for the auto and 27K for the 6 speed.

I have only seen one magazine comparo of the EVO vs the RX-8, and it was a poorly discussed article from an Aussie newspaper. They only compared the cars because they were introduced to that market at the same time. Every other comparo has been EVO vs STi, or RX-8 vs 350Z/G35C/S2000.

Different cars for different, yet similar markets. You won't see very many RX-8 owners who would have cross shpped the EVO. More likely the 350Z or G35. Same goes the other way around. Most EVO owners cross shopped the STi.

rx-8 is more luxurious and a clean pimp ride. Evo is a racers car. People who want to go real fast but not too worried about style opt for an evo. AWD is fun, but the rx-8 interior is just too nice.

Shaolin--- you traded your msp for an rx-8 im assuming? Are you happy you did?

i would cross shop all of those if i was looking at getting a more expensive car. i mean ... i would take each car's pros and cons and see which one fits best

i can definetely see myself thinking about getting an rx8 or sti, debatting which one i would enjoy more. maybe in a few years, once im done with the speed, ill get a 2nd car like that for daily driving
