Would like to add the following to my 2012 CX9 touring.... is it possible?

My GT with GT assist package didn't even come withe the auto mirror. I had to buy one

The Auto-dimming mirror with Homelink became standard on the 2009 Grand Touring. But it remains a Dealer-Installed Accessory for the Sport & Touring even on 2013 models.....go figure.

As for Auto Headlights, the Grand Touring has always had Fully Auto (On/Off) but the '09-up Touring just has Auto-Off. It makes no sense considering that even the most basic Mazda6 had Auto-off headlights starting in '09....

I bought some chrome tape, 1-3/8" wide by 8' long. Would any of you 2007-2009 GT owners kindly provide some dimensions for the chrome portion of the tailgate finisher? For the cut out detail around the Mazda emblem, what is the dimension at the narrowest point?

thanks!

I have the touring and would like it to look more like the grand touring, namely the 20" wheels, fog lights, side mirrors with turn signals, chrome tailgate finisher and chrome door handles. The cost to add these oem items is probably around $2k. When I was shopping for used 2009 models last november, the price difference between similar mileage touring and GTs was around $3500, but the GTs also had a few other interior upgrades such as nav/backup camera, bsm, power liftgate, HIDs, so that the cost would really be much more than the difference if I just bought the GT. Doh!

anyway. I am too cheap, and so I just added the plastic door handle covers ($16 shipped). the quality appears to be just slightly higher than $16. (but i guess its better than just slightly lower than $16!)

Now, next task is to create the low budget version of the chrome tailgate finisher:

anyone know the height of this chrome strip? looks like around 1 3/4" - 2" or so. Any GT owners care to measure for this wannabe? Where to buy chrome automotive tape this wide?

Love the chrome handles, they look gorgeous in the pic.

I have a couple of questions. How do they look up close and if it's possible to post a pic of a close up and where did you buy them from?

Regarding the plastic door handle covers; i bought this one: ebay item 150685243072 for $15.99 and free shipping. IMO, they are worth this price and not more. They feel cheap, but haven't fallen off and this is considering that I applied them in the middle of the winter on a frigid day, exactly how you are not supposed to.

Now this is what I'd been meaning to do after ceric kindly provided the actual dimensions!!!

Touring before, missing a little something to my eyes:

and after, with a DIY chrome rear finisher:

looks just OK, I hope it is convincing enough... i did it in under 30 minutes and made all cuts with a pair of scissors! with a utility knife and some sandpaper this could be done much nicer.

Overall shot with the door handles shown. Does it have too much of the Walmart Car Aisle effect or not? what do yo guys think?

I think it looks great. Your wheels look better than our 2012 GT wheels too! I'm jealous...
