Just wanted some additional opinions on these rims. They're relatively cheap (less than 60 bucks a wheel) but have some curbage and scratches on the rims. I looked over the "paint your oem" threads and I dunno if bondo would work in this case.

Anywho, check out the links and lemme know what you think!

thats each rim, not too terribly close, but pretty obvious what I'm talking about, I think. 2nd pic has the scratch mid-spoke that I was kinda worried about...almost looks like a scuff tho. Would some properly placed tires cover up that road rash?

Also, one of the wheels looks to have a *ton* of sticky weights attached. Should I be concerned? or just a natural thing

you can do better I think; personally I wouldn't pay much for rims I'm going to have to refinish (and, that's a fairly thin rim edge to try to fill in scratches)

also, those look like Mazda 3s 17" wheels, unless they made a similar style for MPVs that I'm not aware of

wellll...he dropped it down to 150 for all 4. I cant pass that up ^^ now to see about doing something about those lips

$150 sounds like a fair deal, but you should find out why he thinks they came from a MPV

wouldn't hurt to ask for some "verification" pics with his screen name/email/etc. on a piece of paper if they're items that you aren't going to pick up in person

good point, its actually a craigslist deal. Now that I look at the add he says "I bought these for my wife's MPV" so, I misread that. They very easily could be Mazda 3 wheels.

oh ok, so you'll be picking up in person?

don't forget to post pics when you get them installed (2thumbs)

a few people have put Mazda3 rims on Protege5s, what car do you have?

mp5 ^^ I've been hunting for a set of cheap oems for a while since reading the forums. Never thought I'd find a halfway decent set on craigslist. Sure its 2.5 hours away...but I've never had a better excuse to go on a roadtrip

oh that looks awesome. I plan on getting some eibachs with my tax refund, and I think richie's said I needed to get the 205's...so that's prolly what I'll do

anywho, Road Trip! lol

ahh good deal - I'd go with the 45-series though, for the ride and appearance (those rims look odd with 40-series)

well, since I'm in no hurry to get the rims on the car...I think I'm going to try painting and filling in that curb rash.

The rash isnt bad at all, but a couple of the rims have it a full 360. So, using the guide and some wheel paint I'ma try to touch it up.

Also going to shop for tires 'cause my shop isnt going to cut me a good deal on tires they have to order :/

they look nice, but they are heavy. (for a 17 inch wheel) you should be able to fit a 215/45 on those - stock size on the mazdaspeed protege

I agree, and I liked the 215/45-17s on my protege when I had it, but 205/45 would keep the speedo more accurate and reduce the risk of rubbing

well, started repainting the rims...the sanding, filling and sandable primer really did a number on those scratches and scrapes, they look a ton better. Going to keep them a warm, bright silver...just about the same color they were, maybe a lil brighter.

Any opinions on tires? I was sorta stuck with Falken's last time (512's, I think) and didnt have too many issues with them. I'm not a racer, but prone to spirited driving. I'm more a casual driver than anything, so comfort comes before extreme traction or 1/4 mile times.

Anywho, here's some pre-paint primer pics lol...I'll try to get pics after the paint and clear coat.

I'm a fan of the 17" Mazda 3 wheels.

You got a hell of a deal on 'em too. I probably spent double that trying to get four of them to replace my bothers stolen P5 wheels.

Here's a before and after ;)

I see you've got locks on em now :)

Sure do :D

To be honest, I never really thought they'd steal stock P5 wheels, but I guess it's a lesson learned.

wow, amazing pics dude...sry for the loss.

I've got 4 stock mp5 16's that have gotta go. They're total crap (1 is bent, all have rust bubbles and curb rash).

Hell, I might make more money selling the metal ><
