Wiseco Pistons

Hey guys just wanted to let you know Wiseco is suppose to be revising their 84mm pistons and adding more material to the area around the intake valve relief but only the 84, the 83 and 83.5 will remain the same. They should be sending me a set of the revised versions in 2-5 weeks so ill post up some pics when they come in.

I had an issue with burning off the thin area on the intake side with two sets of these pistons so Jay of JayRacing and I sent them to Wiseco just to see if it was something we were doing wrong or if they could do something to help my issue. The tech guy was pretty helpful and he thinks that when you push these motors that a hot spot forms on the intake side and the heat is concentrated on the thin area until it eventually is burned/vaporized off. Something he also said we could do for the smaller pistons is to machine off this thin area off so as to remove the point where the heat is concentrated so the heat might spread out and not harm the piston.

In my experience I've only had the pistons out of cylinders 1 and 4 that looked this bad, two was almost unharmed, and three was somewhere in the middle with both of my sets. Has anyone else had pistons that looked like this or something like it?

I wonder what's causing this! This is crazy!! Are the valve seats installed properly(not insulting anyone). Tune?

They looked good going in they look good now so I don't think there is an issue there. We've look over the tune and data logs and came up with nothing so that's when we sent them into Wiseco to see what kind of insight they had.

hmm wouldn't think so just because if its a higher compression it would probably have more material to begin with but I really only have experience with the turbo pistons so I cant say for sure.

Less cylinder pressure might make the difference. Thanks
