just wondering what you guys are running on your P5s this or past winters?...anyone have 14" rims? they are a heck of a lot cheaper than the 15 inchers on both the rim and rubber, but just want to make sure there is enough clearance for the brakes and what not...what about tires?

i'm leaning towards the Toyo G-02 plus or maybe the Dunlpo Graspic DS1...thoughts?

TIA

Winter tires and wheels

I'm using 14" wheels and Yokohama A720 Guardex ICE tires. VERY satisfied since I'm mostly on highways (icy conditions mostly). If you are doing city and country roads, get Nokia SNOW tires, as narrow and high as you can get (within specs). Handling is excellent with 185-65-14.

just wondering if there would be any issues in running 185/65/15 tires on my P5...there's about a 0.8" difference in overall diameter which would lead to about a max 5km (2 or so miles) speedomete guage reading when doing 100km/hr (60miles/hr)...can anyone see any other downfalls?

the reason i ask is because there doesn't seem to be many tires in the 185/60/15 range...185/65/15 gives several different options...plus they are a heck of a lot cheaper than 195/55/15 (the recommended winter tire for the P5)...

Better ask a tire salesman, they know all the sizes you can use based on number of revolutions per kilometer or something like that. Like I said, I went with 185-65-14" and they are great. Even the ride is softer so it compensates when it's very cold outside and bushings/shock absorbers get stiffer. :D

I've still got my blizzaks on my stock ranger rims I'm going to be putting back on soon. That thing hooks great in deep snow (with some weight in the bed of course) with those tires. But be careful when it's dry out, they are SOFT. the one that was on the right rear is at 25% tread after only 6000 miles on the tires.
