Hi guys! Here in New England and other parts of the States we get snow in the up-coming months. What tires are you guys planning on using??
I just got these 4 wheels and tires, wheels are 15x6.5 Sport Edition Fox 2 and the tires are 195-55-15's Michelin Arctic Alpin snow tires from ebay! What a deal! (hah)
If you have pics. of them post them!

Wheels - stock
Tires - will pick up some Bridgestone RE950 or something like that from a local guy for relatively cheap. That should get me through a few months.

Here is what they look like! Nice! (hah)

Hey that's a nice setup for winter use

Right now i'm on stock rims and tires...driving after the first snowfall in Edmonton the other day was a bit scary....Will be getting some Dunlop Graspic DS2 on Tuesday.

Extra set of stock rims and Dunlop Graspic DS-2, they held up fine in the WI winter here last year, going to use them until the tread is down to all-season!

14" steelies and Goodyear Ultra Grip SNOW (185/65-14). LOTS of grip.

I just put on some 195/55/15 Kumho KW17's. So far I am really impressed with their dry handling. If you aren't pushing it or driving over 130 kph they handle as well as my proxes4, a tall statement.

They are an H rated tire, so we'll see how they do in the snow.

Same ones I use during the rest of the year :D Good ol south ;)

Dang, son it's 90-95 degrees here!
Hopefully it drops into the 70's soon. In this part of Texas it can be 90 and then 10 hrs later you can peer out your window at an ice storm and then two days later it is 68 degrees. Crazy man....

15" steelies and Dunlop Graspics.
This'll be their 2nd winter. Worked well last year...

No name 15'' wheels that look vaugely like stock.
hankook w404 195/55/15.

Dry handling is not too bad - just a little squishy feel.
I will fill in snow performance when I drive up into the mountains satuday.

EDIT for winter performance update:
(first)

I drove over hoosier pass twice (to and from skiing) in a near whiteout both one way with about 2in of fresh snow over a sheet of ice. The p5 stayed firmly planted the whole time and immediatly recovered when I took a 180 switchback at almost 15mph (the sign says 10mph in summer (thumb) ).

(for non colorado types) Hoosier pass is a high alpine 2 lane pass with very steep grades and several 180 degree switchbacks. A friend of mine in a 4wd offroad modified jeep got stuck on it once in similar conditions.

So to sumarize: these tire made a normally white knuckle situation into an actually very pleasant winter drive.

Puttin on my dunflop stockies cuz im too cheap to invest in snow tires (first)
which reminds me i need to take off my summer ones soon before the weather turns to crap (boom07)

I picked up some hankook 404's on 185/65/15's that I put on some heavy pepboy rims. They were about the same as what I could get black steels for and probably weigh about the same and will look ok.

I think I'll put them on this weekend. It's supposed to do the below 60 dip here soon and I see flurries in the long term forcast....

I don't get enough snow to justify snow tires.

The Bridgestone re950's are great all weather tires, I had them on the accord at one time. They are incredibly quiet.

Another Edmontonian! If you haven't bought your winters already, I seriously recommend you look into the Nokian Hakkapellitta RSI's. I'm into my third winter on them, and they're as good as the day I bought them. Great on dry pavement, ice, all kinds of snow, slush, etc. (thumb) Plus, unlike a lot of so-called winter/snow tires, they are winter tread ALL the way through - most winters (Blizzak, the Michelin's, Toyo's and Dunlop's I believe) are winter tread only on the outer half; the inner half is actually an all season.

[threadjack] By the way, if you haven't already, check out www.edm-mazdaclub.com. We're having our last official meet of the year next week - come out and join us! :) [/threadjack]
