Winter is here and so are the pests!

OK so last time I had my IC off was my last oil change aboult 4k ago. I drive my car everyday to work, so it sees regular work, and rarely sits. I recently purchased a house w/ a detached garage (garage walls are not sealed super well). Well for the past few days I smelled a hair burning smell while sitting at a traffic light and such. I just blew it off as maybe I picked up some hair from a dead animal on the road.

Yesterday I decided to finally clean my EGR, so I get ready and pull off IC shroud and I see....ALL my lines have been chewed! Most of them have just the soft protective foam chewed off, but one of my fuel lines is seriously chewed into, and a throttle body coolant line has been gnawed as well. As I pull off the IC, I find a HUGE nest, and 2 of my spark plug ignitors chewed. Further more I survey the rest of the engine bay, pull back some of the heat shielding and find they were back by the firewall. Luckly it seems the chewing was kept to a minimal, and nothing looks damaged. My wife's civic has some damage, not near mine, but it looks as if they were on her one engine mount.

Needless to say I have picked up various pest control items, and today in search of a electronic mouse trap. This has all happened rather quickly, and I thought the hast environment of a engine bay being used everyday would quickly deter any animal from building a nest. So go check under your IC OR buy FMIC!(bang)
