So I have been considering removing my wing for awhile. I had it off for a couple of weeks and like the look alot. I have some pics below of the holes in the trunk and as you can see there are alot. So it would be pretty expensive to shave everything and get the paint match to look perfect.

I was thinking maybe I could get a small suttle drag type of wing on the rear trunk lid to cover the holes. Anyone know of anything made? Or maybe I could have one fabbed up.

What do you think of this idea?

They sell plugs for this type of conversion. There basically rubber plugs and are universal.

that looks like such s*** when people do that...thats up there w/ people who install unpainted body pieces...

Yeah I know that but there are way too many holes to plug up and have it look right. Maybe if there was just the 2 on the outside of both sides then I would do it. But there are too many holes.

something like this that just goes back a little bit farther might look damn sexy.

Well I was thinking that I could get something like that and work off of it. Cuz chances are it will have to be modified since they probably wont have on that will fit the msp. But hey atleast I wont be starting form scratch. I like that deisgn. That is what I kinda thinking off too.

seems like trying to get that or something else to work is going to be more trouble and just as much expense then to just get the holes filled...

Well I got multiple quotes. For filling the holes. Everyone of the 6 places I went to said they would have to paint the hole trunk lid and rear bumper and blend into the quarter panels to get the right look. That doesnt sound like BS to me either. Cheapest quote was around $1300. So I think that this would be alot cheaper route. Plus not too bad looking either.

I have a friend who is very good with fiberglassing and all kinds of fabricating. He works at his dads body shop and does very good work. If he is able to do it as a side job then it would be alot cheaper. I am pretty sure he could take the wing that was posted above for the mazda 6 and modify it pretty easily to fit the protege trunk lid and too be long enough to cover the holes.

You have to paint half the car.........to paint a trunk lid.........in order for it to look right. (uhm)

Sounds like an idiot that doesn't know how to mix paint to me, at your expense.

Get a carbon fiber trunk...

If you want a bomber wing or a lipmount spoiler, its goin to take some work.

Thats not half the car. There are about 7 holes on the trunk that need to be filled. That is more then most cars I have seen with the factory wing removed. In order to make the yellow match properly they would have to paint the whole trunk lid and rear bumper. And then they would blend into the quarter panels. The yellow on the mazdaspeed is not eay to blend. That would be the only way to make totally sure that it would come out right.
