Windshield replacement options?

Hi,

I got a huge crack in my windshield from a rock. Mazda quoted $800 for the rain sensing replacement.

My 4 year lease is up in 8 month.

Does anybody have any other suggestions at all?

Thats bulls***.

The glass costs $450 Canadian. Including the rain unit. Labor is about $125.

Thats what I was quoted from the dealership in Windsor.

Why dont you go though insurance.. what is your deductable?

When I eventually find the time to get mine replaced, it's only going to cost me $300.

the dealer will always **** you on parts. avoid the dealer for all parts and service unless it relates to warranty work. mazda cost for front pads for the speed3=180 other places as low as 80

I reported it to my insurance (no-fault) and they gave me the number for a Star Auto Glass. $250!!!! What a scam Mazda is contributing to with their $500 makrup. They'll even come to my work and replace the windshield while I get paid for researching new sound systems

You really need to research, Mazda's parts are on a set mark up percentage in which Mazda designates and is usually cost X 1.67. All other aftermarket places are generally on a much higher percantage scale on their mark up. The reason why parts cost more is quality, if you do not care what you are putting on your car then put other products. Not all aftermarket products are bad but I can say they are cheap and "aftermarket" for a reason.

the rain sensing windshield is 427.60, if you find glass cheaper it is because more then likely it is made cheaper.

Labor rates are also comparitive to the market around us, But just like most other things if it is fast and right it isnt cheap, if it is cheap and right it isnt fast and if it is fast and cheap it isnt right.

Just be sure it's a safety certified company and that it has the rain sensor. They might be quoting you for a normal one.

just put a normal one on there and return it when the lease is over...they prolly wont notice till its too late.
