window tinting...

GreaT!
i didn't mine 2 weeks ago. I find visibility a bit poor at night after i got them tinted. I think my eye sight is getting worse though. Who knows? Look out for the rear glass, i notice mine had a few ripples at the very lower part of the glass and the defrostor lines will show BIG time!! They are thicker than normal cars.

you are right, when i did my tint 2 weeks ago it was really cold (about - 15 degrees) and recently it has been warmer at around 5-10 degrees. The ripples have not been so notible, but the bubbles are permenant.

ok so i go to the tint place and the moron receptionist didnt tell the bnoss that they had appointments that day(saturday) so i sat in the parking lot with the tint guy for a while untill he told me to come back after school on monday and he would "taae care of me" i was pretty pissed, but then the boys and me hit up a local gentlemens club and some how the tinting didnt seem to bother me that much anymore... but i better get a wicked discount.

Got mine tinted a few days ago. Happy with it so far.

Got the Lumar comfort film which is the medium grade with 1 layer of metal in it. The higher end Premier Formula 1 tint has 2 metal layers for even better heat deflection. Compare to my dye film tint on my old car, visibility from inside the car is much better as it's not as dark with the metal films. But it does look dark from outside though which is very cool indeed.

Metal films will affect your radio reception, more noticeable with AM though. I can't really notice it with FM.

To get rid of the bubbles and ripples, use a credit card with worn edges to squeegy them out. Do the same for for gaps running along the defroster lines also. It works also running your finger and applying some pressure along the defroster line from the centre out to the sides. You shouldn't use the finger technique on the first day though as you might shift the whole film piece as it hasn adhere yet. You should be ok on the 2nd/3rd day onward until it's dried. It worked out great for my tint.
