Will Unichip support my mods?

good but not fast. i to tune it to get any horsepower out of that 15lbs. right now its at 201 FWHP 228 FWTQ

Boy that does seem really low for 15 psi.

Didn't Kwisiti (Joe P) get in the 260s with 18 psi on a mostly stock msp?

And I know a guy here in dallas who got 240WHP at 12 psi with the MPI. And another who got ~185 at 10psi with only exhaust and drop in filter.

Are you in an otherwise stock msp or trowing a cel? Clutch slipping on the dyno? Could just be the tune, but it sounds like something else is also wrong here.

This thread is really making me want the unichip. I'm hoping to get Voda's myself, and i just found a local tuner.

The problem is getting all the supporting mods together. Otherwise I'll be stuck paying quite a bit to get it retuned. This certinly adds to the 'price' of this unit.

How does unichip compare to the new Greddy ultimate emanage system? The Greddy is about half the price, but I'm not totally sure what tuning features it has vs. the unichip. I know it doesn't come pre-mapped like the unichip, but that doesn't seem to matter much, since the unichip needs re tuning anyway.

Emanage Ultimate won't work until Greddy updates the software to work with the FS engine. This has been tried by daedulus with less than stellar results. Once/if greddy updatest the software then all should be good.

no, because you need to set up a base for the motor, the only options are miata, rx7 and like a couple other mazdas. The old emanage had switches to select the motor type. This just has the software, and the FS isn't included. There's a thread on here about, gives the run down on why it wont work.

From talking to people who have the Unichip, it will work very well out of box. A custom tune is only necessary if your mods are exceeding the default tune on the Unichip. You should be fine with the bolt-ons: fmic/smic, hardpipes, intake, exhaust. if you are going internals, extra fuel, bigger intake/exhaust manifold, etc... then a custom tune will be necessary. of course, even getting a custom tune without the big big power mods is good too.... you can tune it to your exact needs and mods, and other factors like the weather conditions you live in.

you can't go as far as comparing it to the greddy emanage ultimate yet, because the greddy emanage ultimate isn't even updated for the FS engine. although the emanage has the advantage of being able to tune it yourself. some people like the convenience of unichips plug n play.

Thanks for the info...all clear now. I wonder if the unichip folks really push for the retuning so they can get some more billing in. Thanks again

I'm looking into this chip and I really would like to buy it, but I just can't seem to find the answer to this question, is it worth buying on a completly stock MSP??? I feel that you would not be able to enjoy it unless you mod the ride. you can't even boost to 10psi stock or am i wrong...i just figure that spending about $900 on this as your first mod would not benifeit me at all...can someone please let me know what kind of gains I would be looking at with a stock MSP and if I decide to go 10psi without modding yet, will I be regretting it. I'm debating because I have a grand to blow on my car and I want to know if this is should be the mod to go with or should I focus on some other things...thanks in advance...respect.

Yes, it is worth it even on a stock car. It's not made for a car with a significant number of modifications. It was originally built on a bone-stock car, then updated with intake and exhaust installed on the car (just those two parts). This unit has a better bang for the buck ratio than most anything else you can get for the car. Not to mention improves fuel economy! This unit also eliminates the hiccups that some of the MSP's have. I didn't those running issues however.

With my car, we made 250hp with Unichip, intake, and exhaust (this is a crank HP number). 25hp and 5mpg directly from the Unichip if I recall correctly. I've now got a downpipe and will be adding a FMIC shortly. I will dyno again for an updated number. Hopefully we'll get some new maps made also.

If you have any other questions about this product you can message me directly. I don't know how many times I've posted information and corrected things about these units.

what about if i wanted to run it for the MAM street sleeper kit? how do you think it would do? Also when i try to find a tuner near me, here in nc, zip 28163 it doesn't pull up anything. does anyone know where the nearest one may be?

thanks

like Horsepowerfreak said, it will be a good addition for your ride, improving power delivery and maximizing it's potential. when you start adding big mods, you may want to consider a custom tune. that way, your unichip can utilize those mods.

which map were you running when your car was bone stock and what map were you running when you had intake and exhaust???

That doesn't really apply to me.... But I'm not sure what you are really asking though.

The Unichip was built/setup on my vehicle. The first time they had it the car was stock, they just got everything setup and tested how it would run. A month or so later they had the car again and did the more aggressive tuning. The car had intake and exhaust at this time.

The Unichip is setup one way those switches (for the maps) are to de-tune it basically.

Haha that's funny, you detuned your car for how much?
Call me if you want a stock NA manifold so you can go even slower.

Sorry, that quote sounded funny to me.

should I replace my clutch eventually with this chip???

i guess it depends on how much you drop your clutch! if you like dropping your clutch all the time, don't expect it to last long!

I would say slipping would be worse than dropping it.
