Mazdaspeed 3 Sport
17x8.5 +40 and 245/45/17 Bridgestone RE-01R

I will be running stock suspension...it is a mazdaspeed 3 so it is 10mm lower than stock mazda 3....the only thing I'm worried about is the inner clearance of the front suspension...it seems like it will clear the strut fine....but this is me using my eyeball...

I did punch some numbers into wheel & tire offset calculator and they tell me I will lose about 3/4th of an inch towards the inside...which isn't alot...thats the good news...but I want to double check with ya'll

help a brotha out :)

It will be 27mm closer to the fender and 3mm closer to the suspension. I wouldn't worry about the inside clearance near as much as I would the rear fender. Are you on stock suspension? If you hit a bump just right you are going to wreck your fenders.

stock suspension for sure

i just did some measurements and I think the 17x8.5 ET40 with 245/45/17 would stick out way too much for my tastes

my current setup, 225/50/17 on 17x7 ET50, I measured the outside edge of the tire to the very outside edge to the rear fender....i got about half inch before they become flush....no problem...I just needa find a rim/tire combo thats about 0.5 to 0.75 inch to make it look nice and flush

problem is, when i punch it into the calculator, the 17x8.5 ET40 245/45/17 says it will stick out 1.538 inches MORE than my current setup...thats a little too much sticking out for my taste...i'm looking more into the 0.5 to 0.75 area to make it look nice and flush

now here is the MAGIC question...yes i know i'm a freaking ***** for asking so much

17x9 +45 255/40/17

will it fit!?!

I stuck my hand to feel how much room there is between the front tire and front suspension...it feels like a GOOD amount....like seriously too...i'd say about 1.25 to 1.5 inches...and i currently have 225 wide tires on there (215 is stock)
