2003 MazdaSpeed Protege - Black Mica
Hello all. Most of you probably do not remember me, but it was only 3 years ago when I made the best, and one of the worst decisions of my life.

Best being buying my (old) MSP...the worst, probably trading it in on a TA...and while I loved my trans am, I sold it, and now I'm looking for a larger car than my current car, a Cobalt SS/SC, so I'm looking to join the Mazda family once again...however in a slightly larger model.

So, long story short, I would love your opinions on a few MS6's I'm looking at.

I would appreciate your comments, and if all goes well, I may in fact be leaving my Cobalt SS/SC behind for the AWD glory of Mazdaspeed...so...without further adue, here they are.

i think the red one looks to be the best buy since is low mileage and cheap just make sure its clear on carfax.

i wouldnt go with the silver one just by judging by the blue lights and the intake put in it i would say a teen drove it and most likely beat it up.

thats my opinion, but it is ur money

i tend to agree as the red one looks attractive with the low mileage mate! But i dont agree with dismissing grey one as i had a fully stage 1 tuned saab 9k turbo and i had aftermarket parts on there but i took very good care of it so this one may have been owned by an enthusiast like myself and not just some careless teen!

eh carfax is just about worthless! my car has been in two wreck and neither one of them showed up on the carfax tell a year after i purchased it. My co-worker wrecked his truck and Geico repaired it and it didn't show up tell after 3 years later. Its a good tool but i wouldn't put all my faith into it.

I do like the red one as one of my top choices...however they want $17,900, and they are a no-haggle dealership, plus i have a trade...and I'll probably be "underwater" on that trade as it is, all the others allow to fight for a better price, but I guess seeing them in person is the best way of course.

I have looked at the silver closely as well, (asked my brother and my parent for their opinions) and they all agreed on the silver one as well, except for my mom, she loved the cherry mica, but then again she's only owned black cars, so that explains that.

I am a little concerned about the mileage and the mods, seeing as my current car did have an intake, was a lease return and had a very hard life prior to my owning it, it doesn't necessarily scare me off considering the price of these new, so I'm guessing that a teen may not have been able to pick any one of these up, at least not without serious help from mommy and daddy.

So, I guess that leads to my next question...if you had to buy another car, would you buy an MS6 again?

Thanks blu, sorry I couldn't help you out.

Ill definatly let you all know. I'm pretty confident ill be getting one, but who really knows.

i agree. i have the lights swapped in my car too and also have some mods on. but i know how i take care of my car. if i were a buyer i would go for bone stock (even thou the other cars might have their parts swapped back). is really a risk buying a modded car since i would say 50% of the people dont take care of their cars. and turbo cars need care.

as i said it is his money and at the end hes gonna make the decision. we're here just for opinion

once again i agree totally as it is a high risk unless it comes with extensive service history and lots of reciepts! And it all depends if you want a modified car as it would be a waste if its not what you want lol! I also prefer a standard car as then i know that the mods are of the best standard and fitted correctly! I have never owned a MS6 as i have just purchased my 1st mazda which is a 626 but if your after a turbocharged family car they do seem to be fantastic and have great potential! Good luck and let us know on your descion as itd be intresting to know which way you go =)

Thanks guys. I'll try to be checking out some of them this week possibly...I've pretty much made up my mind that if I'm going to get something, an MS6 is it.

We'll be glad to have you back in the Mazda family!! and the MS6 to boot!! GO FOR IT!!

If you can't talk the price down for the red one, forget it. over 17k for a 25k miles car isnt that great a deal.
I got mine at 27k for under that much too.

Also, im biased. I say black cherry mica since its the #1 most rare MS6 color. #2 being white. idk how rare red, black and silver are though. If you can talk price down for the BCM then ofc i say that one!!! hah.

GL meng, let us know.

Lol. That's what I'm leaning towards...use the silver one as leverage in negotiations maybe?

Ill be checking them out tomorrow or Friday.

No, use the red one as leverage. only bout $500 difference for 20k difference in miles is absurd!!
the BCM is asking quite a bit too much. for 27k miles, i spend $1k less than the BCM MS6 you're looking at.
they need to reduce like 2-3 grand man!

As long as you have good credit, got a good trade-in/sell price for your cobalt, and can have enough fortitude/patience to simply walk out the door, then you can talk em down mebe a that few extra grand. the ultimate threat is WALKING out the door, at which point i have had dealers cave in as i stand from the chair... lol

Oh, I'm more than willing to stick with my cobalt for a while, I'd just like something larger with a little more guts...and 4 doors...and awd...

The red one is fantastic mileage...but (this may sound silly) I really want leather interior. Where I work now (farm) is pretty dusty, and cloth interiors just soak up the smell like none other. I know that both of them (the silver and BCM) need to drop the price at least 3k.

the red one is 16900 now!! I would go for the low mileage.

Yeah, the low mileage is very very tempting. How long is the factory warranty good for?

Do not believe the CarFax, it's not accurate

Here's mine with a "Clean" Carfax. Bumper off and wallah (blarf)

Dyam, sorry your MS6 has pre-existing dmgs, that definitly is discouraging! Sadly, if you dont buy a used car from a dealer, then you have very few options to get it taken care of.
but thats not carfax's fault. Carfax simply records what was officially reported about a car's history.

If an owner had not reported it, Carfax has no way of finding out.
So its not about "not trusting" them, its about not relying on their reports as fully complete history of any vehicle, as they have no way of knowing for either. Only use their reports as a small lead as to the condition of a vehicle.

Basically, it is the same info as what you would find from the DMV.

Well, I had this whole long thing written out, but then the fourm decided i was logged off...so no go there.

Anyways, tested out 3 MS6's, the best one was the silver one. Just felt better, rode better, and had a better price
