Will I blow a Kicker 8 OHM sub?

I replaced the stock sub in my msp with a Kicker Comp VR 8" 4ohm and it was much better than stock but not better enough. I ended up gutting it and putting in my 2 12" alpine Type R's from my old car and pounding hard for a couple of years. Now I have to put that amp rack back in so I can sell it!

I'm assuming you hooked up a more powerful amp right?

My stock sub has blown and I need to get a replacement as well. I have extended warranty coverage, but I think I still have a $100 deductible, so for the $100 I might as well go buy a more reliable speaker.

So it sounds like I should get a 4 ohm sub right? Any particular model preferred that would sound best with the Kenwood amp?

yeah my system is pretty serious... I have a full Kenwood 25th anniversary series installed. HU, front components and both amps 4ch and mono block pushing the type R's. Pounds way too hard and is actually just stupid since I never even use what I have but hey that's the game when it comes to car audio
