Will Hitch Class Upgrade over Mazda's stock Class 1 Void the Warranty?

I tried to get at this subject under my last post, but it was missed. My dealer offers a lifetime powertrain+ warranty and of course, I don't want to jeopardize that...

Without hitting the manual right now I believe that the vehicle itself has a listed maximum tow rating of 2000lbs, upgrading to a hitch rated beyond that, even if intentions are to stay within spec could look sketchy to the dealer... yes/no?

May have answered my own question just then...

Only if you pulled more than the vehicle is rated for. Now, they might imply that the larger hitch caused something but no, they have to prove it. Look, you could put more than the load capacity of the vehicle inside the vehicle too. That could, and would, void the warranty, if they figured out you did that. Likelihood of a problem is small. Likelihood of one that appears to be load (heat) related is smaller. Just make records of anything you tow, noting weight.

Speaking of which - the load capacity inside of the vehicle is actually pretty easy to exceed if you load it up with 4 portly people. 4 adults whom weigh 275lbs each exceeds the rating, with no other luggage or gear.

Don't forget to tally up the case of beer and the mother in law in the trunk when counting the total weight Warranty is to safeguard against defects. They need to prove abuse to deny warranty. Some people have a 2 x 2 bicycle rack shaft, as such they need to go to that size hitch.

Mother in law goes on the roof rack I thought , either way there's going to be hag I mean drag
