The MSP comes with 215/45/17 stock...I changed to a 205/40/17. Smaller width, smaller tire wall height(the 40 or 45 number). You should have no problems with rubbing or fitment issues.

Shorter sidewalls increase your chanes for wheel damage as the tire has less room to flex on the rim.
Not trying to scare you out of this purchase, but I actually went UP in tire size to the 215/45/17 to get a better day-to-day ride.
My race tires are 205/40/17, and it's like riding on rails for control, but it's also really rough. I wouldn't want to drive on a tire that size every day.
You also need to consider that your mileage will rack up faster as the tires will spin faster with a smaller radius. Just something to consider if you ever want to sell the car. It will show higher than actual mileage. Bad for resale.

215s will fit. 225s will rub. Go with 215/45/17. Smoother ride and a little more grip thatn the 205s. I like the taller sidewals of the 215/45s for both the ride and wheel protection, and it helps a little on the cars mileage. (You go a little further than the odo records.)
