Will 7" speakers fit in front?

I was looking at a set of crystal compents (Cpe 60t) on sounddomain.com for $120 (looks like a helluva deal!) but they're advertised as 7", and they are "designed to fit in oversized 6 1/2", 6 3/4" and 7" applications."

Will these fit into the front speaker locations w/o having to hack the hell out of my door? I assume these are about the same size as 6.5", but don't really know.

Does anyone have any exp with these spks? What the opinion on titanium domes (in our cars?) They don't have the silk tweets in stock and I don't wnat to miss the sale. Plus I've heard MBQ tweets, which are supposed to be very bright, and found I actually liked the sound, but haven't listened to for an extended period of time. Thanks!

with a 1/2 inch spacer and after trimming the ring on the rear of the door the 7" will probably fit. The only problem with any tweeter in our cars is the glass resonance at 6.5K hz is extream to say the least.

I don't quite understand what you're saying. Any tweeter will sound bad in our cars, or at the least very annoying? Wouldn't this be influenced on the placement of the tweets? Is this a prob on the 2002.5 with the factory tweet? I haven't heard mention of this problem before, and have not heard a pro with a component set, so i don't know what to make of it. I don't want to spend a lot of time and money to make it sound like s****.

PS is this an arguement to get silk tweets then? I was thinking of mounting in doors if was too brite mounted near window pillar.

Its not a property of the tweeters that are used its just resonance. If anything plays in this area then the glass will resonant. I am currently working on a notch filter for the issue that I might sell. Basicly if you don't notice the problem then don't look for it. I heard it in my car and checked it with an RTA and sure enough the 6.3K was about a 9 db spike.
