I know that they dont look near as good....but I need a passenger headlight and someone has a set of protege headlights I can get cheap..I'm just wondering if they fit because i want to make it so I can legally drive at night...hehe...

I'll switch back once I'm able to locate a used p5 at a reasonable cost..

Thanks for help...

They wont form to the body but they will bolt right on to the rad support.
Wiring will require splicing.

If they're REALLY cheap, you can sand the edges to fit into the body moldings. It will be super-trashy but it will function

What are you guys talking about?

Protege5 and 01-03 Protege headlight are the exacat same on the outside.

I have sedan headlights on my car and they line up perfectly!

Yes, you will need to wire it differently if you want to use the high beams, and the turnsignals are the same on the outsides, but, if you just need a low beam to be legal, regular 01-03 sedan lights do fit

I had kicked around the idea of doing this several months ago. Don't get me wrong, it's not IMPOSSIBLE, but it's definetly not an easy job either. You would be looking at taking the mounts of your old headlights, and then customizing those to properly mount the new headlights. Not to mention, there is some fender and hood shaving/cutting that would need to be done in order for it to work, but let me tell you...the outcome would look SICK!

Here's the ones I was checking out....tell me if these don't make you wet your pants.... :D
Now, granted these headlights are from 06+, but they would be impressive.

06 as in from a Mazda3? There is A LOT MORE WORK than just adjusting mounting tabs to get those lights to look right

**some sedans came with the p5 body kit.
I do believe if the sedan you got the lights from had the p5 body kit it would be a direct fit, but if it has the classic sedan design it won't. Or at least thats what I was told when I asked a few months ago about some p5-sedan compatibilities. Anyone have a p5 and a sedan or know someone with one? :dodgy:

The headlights on my car were FOR an 01 to 03 sedan.

i think you're talking about the 2000 protege with headlights like these
