Why Jeff should get a miata...

I'm listing all the reasons why I love my roadster and why Jeff should get one. All other Roadster owners, please feel free to sound off

-reliability. all she needs is oil and gas. I have replaced 1 heater hose and the CAS seals, and since I was in there, I also did the valvecover gasket, but that didn't really need to be done. I am purposly killing the old clutch so I can put a new one in. hehehe
-Drivability- way better than any other car I've ever driven. There is an unparralleled joy that I get from clipping the apex on an on/off ramp and watching as the person behind me tries to keep up.
-I like my cars like I like my women; TOPLESS!! (boobs2)I'm not as crazy as Ronin, but I will drop the top in 40 degree weather. There Spring summer and fall are my favorite times of the year. Sometimes I'll sit at a stop light and SOAK in the sun! it is amazing.
-AFTERMARKET PARTS ARE EVERYWHERE!! and they're cheap! Swap meets happen everywhere. I've even gotten free parts.
-Auto-x events, you will be king!
-Pop up headlights! 1st Gen rules!
-Memorial Day @ Limerock is awesome, great weather and even tho my miata is beaten and ugly, I still got props from people.

OH and winter driving is awesome, the only time I had problems was when I had to plow through a snow bank. and ice can be tricky. The dealership doesn't close for snow days, so I have had to drive to and from work in all of the storms we've had this season and I had WAAAAAY more fun than I thought I would.

I have a couple of books on the miata, as well as some vintage Miata Magazines if you want to do some reading.

I also know where to find you some KILLER JDM-roadster-bling

plus the initial investment cost isn't too bad.. since miatas (first gens) are pretty cheap, jeffy can get another reliable winter beater to supplement his miata :)

this thread entertains me.

ok let's here it people...why should I get a miata?

the idea of getting a cheap winter beater (or for when I need to pick people up from the airport or whatever) is kinda believable...

well, the first and most obvious reason is that you could join these fine gentleman on sunday mornings:

secondly, your stable can look like mine! :)

I'm a big proponent of the subaru/miata combination.

:)

my bf is complaining that he won't fit in a miata since he's 6'1".

I said "You would with the top down!" :p

he's an inch taller than me.

I've got more than an inch of headroom with the top shut..

I'm 6'-1" and I fit in mine with no problem. When I did my hair spiky, though, sometimes it rubbed on the roof ;)

I feel really tall in a Miata. Wouldn't stop me from buying one though.

I would only use it top-down anyways.

I totally thought about a Miata when I was planning to trade my P5. I so wanted to have a convertible again, but alas the need to have the extra 2 seats got the best of me. That and the fact I just love the 8.

if I could afford a rx-8 right now I'd jump for one of those. The 2 extra seats in back would be really handy (especially when carpooling to work).

on the other hand I test drove Chris' (slug420) spicy msp today and (shocked) why didn't I get a MSP to begin with omg the turbo feels ammmmmmmmaaaaazzzziiinggggg *drools*

Turbos are fun indeed. Got to pay the premium gas prices though.

that's true. however with my p5 I was paying premium gas prices since I had a mp3 ecu. at least with turbo I get more zoom zoom (drive2)

Where to start, B pointed out some of the fine features of the Miata, handling is a dream, having the topdown day or night is awesome, parts are easy to come by. As for size I am 6'1" not on the light side and fit fine, my seat isn't all the way back. After buying mine I vowed I would never be without one again. Anyone that I have given a ride to loves it and wishes they could have one. Now you can't compare a stock miata to a MSP, but take the Miata and put on a turbo or even a supercharger then compare notes. Some of the kits I was looking into would give me about 225-250hp. Add that to such a nimble car and you can eat up a MSP. Take one for a drive easiest way to find out. You can find a decent one for a few grand, put a few grand in mods to it and still have enough to buy a beater if needed.

I'm 6'3". I fit great in the 1st gen. 2nd gen is tough for me to use the clutch, to ge my foot on it I have to swing my knee out and around the steering wheel. 3rd gen is ok but I'd much rather a 1st gen. Height wise, I fit in them all.
