why is the mazda 3 such a piece of crap??

i was a proud owner of a 2006 mazda 3 ....i still own my mazda 3 '06, i'm just feeling a little different lately. my car has given me nothing but grief???? anyone else feeling the same? i just spent about 1000$ to have the air climate centre fixed aka my car stopped defrosting and chose to turn on at it's own will (and my "bumper to bumper" warranty that cost thousands of dollars doesn't cover this apparently)...last year it took two months for mazda to get a new screen for my radio as the wires cam loose in the back...my tires needed replacing after 20,000km.....christmas is coming and i have to explain to my family why they won't be getting what they asked for because i have to fix my car that is only 2 years old and has less than 50, 000km on it......i think next time i'll buy north american.

I don't find mine as a piece of crap, but it does have its massive share of way-too-damn-slow syndrome and quite a few rattles/creaks. Other than that, so far I'm solid.

the stock tires have been and probably always will be crap when it comes to the low-pros that companies put on cars.....i hadda replace the orig dunlops on my 02 p5 around 17k so i feel that one.....tirerack is my friend for tires....and that is complete crap about the climate bs....they shoulda fixed that without issue....

I can't say that about my 2004 Mazda 3 hatch. The only thing it was replaced was the recalled crash sensor. Oil changes and gasoline it's the only thing I do beside I replaced the tires at 50,000 miles.

So far youve only listed issues about how slow it take the dealership to get the part in (not really a mazda particular issue) and how crappy OEM tires are.

Were the tires rotated regularly? Tough s*** on the climate issue, but that should have been covered under warranty...

hardly qualifies a car being complete crap.

wow...good job....yeah tires have been the only thing for me in 6 years 103k miles....well except for the s*** from people hitting my car....everything else is orig......er i replaced everything audio because i wanted more

I had to replace new tires at 30k on my '07 the wipers were also crap and replaced those within a week of owning my car... my radio doesn't catch stations very well... or at all; it makes me SO mad. When I drive over water and it's deeper then an inch my carpet in the cabin becomes wet, not sure if it's a 3 thing or a MY3 thing. The carpet, and sun visors feel cheap but other then those little things I love my car, I don't drive it that often anymore but I can't seem to make myself sell it.

i think i will always keep the short bus and just ultimately turn it into a project car....i love this car

wasnt your 3 in several accidents? i wouldnt be surprised if water was splashing up in a unseen damaged area.

Yes it was but I noticed this before my accidents; I'm sure it's worse now and I should bring it up about getting looked at.

My visor on the driver's side has gotten looser in the 5 months I've owned my car and the passenger door window motor has slowed down quite a bit...not sure why. But she needs an oil change so I can always have her there for warranty at the same time. Oh, and get the ******* rattle fixed in my headliner right next to my head when I drive, I think it's one of the clips that holds the headliner up too. Score for accidentally knocking on the headliner!!!

I have to say that I agree with lm1986. In July '06 I bought a brand new, GS Mazda3. Loaded it up, undercoating, 3M, fog lights, all weather floor mats, mud flaps, tint, moon roof. I drove it off the lot with 7km on it. Zoom zoom...I thought.
It began at 9,000/km. I had the mysterious stall-out (that I've now read has not just happened to us) in the middle of rush hour. Stopped at a red light, the light turns green, press the gas, and stall. Shoot.....what to do? Put it in park.....turn the ignition off...turn ignition on...nothing. No turn over, no lights, no nothing. It was as if the battery were dead. ...turn the ignition off again...do this for 30 seconds. Finally, we start no problem....what the heck? Drive the rest of the way to work and wonder to myself, what the heck was that? I call Mazda that day, and they say they've never heard of this problem....ever. Just call back if it happens again. Somehow I now doubt that this was the first they heard of it. Since then, it's hasn't happened, but I worry about what'll happen when my warranty is up if it's acting like that at 9,000K?
Next is the faulty door locks. The car was broken into, so I suffer the damage to the door, and the vandal broke the middle consol (dent repair plus $160 for consol replacement, not to mention the items stolen from the truck and glovebox.) I do everything to avoid vandals. Park in a well lit area, have a club, nothing on the seats. I was very disappointed to hear that Mazda was installing door plates on a hush hush basis. We just had the car in the shop for an oil change the week before and no one ever mentioned the faulty locking system. Too bad the service was only provided on a "as requested" basis. It could have saved me over $300 if they had brought it to my attention. I still may have ended up with the dent repair, but I would've saved the items being ripped off. This car was targeted becuase theives know that Mazda was negleting this problem and the majority of Mazda owners did not have the plate required to prevent a break-in installed becuase Mazda was so tight lipped about it. I'm glad to hear there is a class action law suit in the works for BC. I hope this will go nation wide so owners can have some compensation from Mazda's neglect to advise their clients of such as issue.
From that point on, I've watch forms for updates and other chronic Mazda problems. One of which being the uneven tire wear. I've heard too many people say that the factory tires (I have Toyo) are just cheap. Well, if the tires were just cheap, I could understand them wareing out at 20,000K, but they should wear evenly. I have 2/32 left on the inside of all four tires and I'm at 48000K! These are all highway miles. Since they didn't mention the tire ware at the 12 month rotation (I have the paperwork to prove there were in the "green"), I now have all four tires which require replacement. The dealership says its a alignment issue, but countless forums state that the camber is off because this "economy" car is built as a little sportster, so it "hugs the road" and therefore wears tires at a ridiculous rate. And the Toyo tire warranty techs say its a Mazda issue.....you see the dilemma... I would have thought twice about buying this car if I knew I'd be replacing tires ever 25,000K. I now need to purchase a cam kit for $150 and have it installed to fix this issue.....not on warranty mind you. Even the cheapest of cheap tires should last over 40,000K.... I don't care what anyone says.
I've also read the horror stories about the trannies going in these cars under 100,000K so have taken it upon myself to have the tranny flushed at least every two years....because most of the time when this happens, it's also not covered under warranty.
I know I sound like I HATE this car, but it's not that...I really love how it handles, but the workmanship makes me worried about then next 10 years with this car. Until this point I considered myself a proud part of the Mazda family. Before the Mazda3 I had a 1993 Mazda Protg with over 550,000km on it. I affectionately called it the "Super Mazda". It was overheated twice when plowing through snow drifts as high as the hood, it's rear end was clipped by a semi that jackknifed on the highway, it hit a cow (yes...a cow) and did some serious bush trails near the end of it's life. Near the end of life for the protg it was burning oil as fast as it would gas, and the entire top end needed replacement, but it was road hard, and never ever, had the little piddly issues that the Mazda 3 has been encountering in the first 2 years of it with me. I have babied this car from day one and am very disappointed in the performance of the car, and am equally disappointed with the service received and all dealerships in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I really hoped to have a Super Mazda II, but know that this car will never stand up to the quality of its predecessor. Unfortunately, I'm just not "feelin it" this time around. They just don't make 'em like they used to. I'm now considering if it's worth dumping this car now to save myself some headach down the road....good luck lm1986

I read it.
Go to Weber Mazda on Calgary Trail. They will take care of you. The service manager is Malcolm MacPherson. Very nice guy. Weber has exceeded my expectations in terms of service. Tell them about the stalling issues you've had and if they can't reproduce it, which I doubt they will, at least you'll have it on record. Remember your engine is warrantied for 5 years 100k kms.

48k Kms on the stock tires sounds pretty good to me. I'm down to 7/32s on about 15k. We all know they wear out fast and are not good quality. I actually look forward to wearing out my tires so I can get tires that I know won't let me down.

Sorry about the locking plate situation. I have to agree, that was shady business. However, when Mazda Canada finally got their act together, they sent out a letter notifying Mazda3 owners of the locking plate and also offered a $100 rebate in March 08 for installing shock sensors on the car (after market or factory). Get your car kicked and robbed is really terrible though. It's happened to alot of ppl I know that drive 3's and I'm one of the lucky ones so far that hasn't had it happen. I park in secure underground parking though and have a Compustar alarm.

To the OP, your car is 2 years old and under 80k kms, you should have gotten your AC fixed free under warranty. Your dealership scammed you and I understand why you're hurt.

i hate to say it but blamin mazda for someone breaking in to your car is kinda makin you out to be an ass.....my car was broken into for and aftermarket HU(cheap one) and it wasn;t cause of a lock plate(i have an 02 p5) they just hurled a chunk of concrete through the window....not my fault, not mazdas fault.....your car was broken into cause people are stupid like that.

and we have all had issues with cars one form or another

2 people just joined here to talk there problem of Mazda 3?,.,..,hellooo.,.,,
