Why is Mazda so late with 2026 announcements save the CX-5?

From what I've gathered over the past few years, Mazda seems to announce their new models in late July. We're now almost 2 full weeks into August and other than the news about the Cx-5's, there seems to be nothing official.

I talked to our local sales guy and he doesn't have any info but told me on the qt that their sales on new vehicles is slow.

Most of their other competitors have either announced or actually have the '26s available.I know they are all struggling but it makes me hesitant to consider them for a future purchase. The news about the upcoming tariffs and quarter loss isn't promising for Mazda either...

I love my CX-5 but am on the fence to upgrade to a CX-70 especially lacking any information.

They're not "late", everyone else is just early... the "model year" system, which is a very north american thing, has gotten all competitors "trying to beat the jones" every year and announce new model years as much as 12 months ahead... it's gotten more and more common in recent years compared to before

The traditional new model announcements were sometime in summer with a fall release.

But I wouldn't bother buying a "1st year" car... you're bound to get lots of issues... mazda is still working out the issues in the CX-70/90s, and they're well into their 2nd year... looking at the trends in the past 10 years, it took until the 3rd year before the 1st gen CX-5, the 3rd gen 6 and 3 for their issues to get mostly worked out

The current 2nd gen CX-5 might be long in the tooth, but it's gotten to be very solid, so I'd stick with that if I were you... if you're looking to buy a new CX-5, I'd get the 2025 over the 2026... the allure of new and fresh is strong, but be sensical and reliability wins the day.
