Why does my MSP look different from other MSPs?

yeah the tip doesnt look like that, its a little more oval shaped. upon closer inspection i can actually see that there is still some leftover glue on the front bumper from where he pulled off the lip, doh. i always thought it was tree sap or something hahaha, anyone know how to get that s*** off?

auto body supply store. they have an adhesive remover disk. thats what I used when I pulled mine off to work on it. that adhesive was WICKED. nearly a half inch of it in some places.

no difference performace wise between 03 and 03.5. however there is a racing beat aftermarket exhaust which MAY be different (I don't know), but it wouldn't be MUCH different anyway.

its probably a not-legit carfax. the guy hit a telephone poll or something, drove it home, then took it in to his buddies paint shop, stripped the lip since its out of production, and painted the damage. ta-dah.

sorry to be the bearer of (assumed) bad news by the way. he also could have had fogs and just liked the 03 lip better.

I could be a legit car fax... Car fax only shows whats reported, not every body shop reports things in a timely manor. A good friend of mine ran one on his truck for the hell of it being that he had the unlimited thing for a month(shopping for a new car for his wife) and his truck showed that it was wrecked two years later. It didn't show wrecked when he had purchased it. I kind of want to run one on my MSP for the hell of it now. lol

well if it wasn't for the different rear exhuast, someone could have sold the front lip and went with 03 fogs setup and traded rear lips with someone because he liked that look better.

however, since the exhuast isn't a 3.5 exhuast i say something is up with this car. just my 02

i Like it without the 03.5 lip/cover. looks like a beefed up MP3 (which it is) did you install the honeycomb insets where the fogs were supposed to go?

...Oh, and for the record, I too have the '03 skirt on my '03.5 MSP; just because I like it better...

maybe he just liked the look better?

^ This is a distinct possibility as well. I know a couple of guys with 03.5's that ditched the stock lip and installed the 03...

Previous owner could have removed the 03.5 lip to put on an aftermarket one...

(dunno) But yeah, like everyone said, that's the same front bumper, just without the 03.5 lip.

i took my car down to PTP (www.protuningperformance.com) the other day and the head tech Marc, a fellow MSP owner, took a look at my car and gave me some insights. the rear end exhibits no signs of an accident, he said the exhaust tip was most likely replaced due to a cracking of the chrome plating on the 03.5 tips and the fact that the dealerships often had trouble sourcing 03.5 exhaust tips. im going with the theory that the previous (original) owner of the car just liked the look of the 03 skirt better. the front end lip was removed (can still see the glue marks) and the fog delete kit was installed presumably for the same reason.
