Who here has the ION sport specs on the P5>?

Well ION has informed me well on the ION springs but im asking for any of you with pictures of the drop and ur opinions on the comfort and performance...preferably on the Protege5
Thanks

Chicken SOup - this is a direct quote from haig (the owner of the blue P5 in the pictures) from post #6 @ the following link ->

my opinion
ok people, it's been about a couple of weeks I'm riding on these springs, so I imagine that they should've settled as much as they can...

my impressions are that the car:
1) looks great a little lowered
2) doesn't have that tuck of the wheel, which I dislike
3) handles better due to the lower center of gravity
4) handles better due to the higher spring rate
5) No bounce...

Essentially, it allows you to oversteer the front and the back will come around due to the progressive rate....I love it....I had never heard my tires chirp before, but now, it seems like they are having to work to turn, since I am going faster through the entire turn...Actually, I noticed that with stock springs, I have to let the back sorta guide me through, since the front tended to understeer...now, the front is like a pivot point for the back to come around...

I've driven it through Old Montreal (coblestone streets)...no problem, just too much vibration...I had 5 passengers with 4 in the back over coblestone and I had no rubbing, nothing...I loved it...I checked if the car height went down with that many people, but it stayed put...

That's just my 2 cents...

Yeah ION i read Haig's response b4 however i was just curious as to what other buyers opinions were on the sport specs...again im not second guessing ur product im simply doing some homework b4 i purchase a crucial part of my suspension

Chicken SOup - simply put it, if you're looking for something that's function over form ie: something that'll give you handling performance, improved looks, and a great daily driving ride then these are the springs to get.

If you're more into the look, and ride quality isn't too much of an issue, the Eibachs or the H&R's or TEIN's would be the springs to get.

Being that your roads there are quite similar to Montreal, haig's impressions would serve to be a good idea for how they'll perform in your area.

One big common mistake that people make when purchasing suspension pieces is forgetting what they'll be doing with the car 99% of the time. If it's a street car, it'll boil down to ride comfort on a day to day basis.

yeah i understand ION , but from the pics that i have seen the sport specs seem to lower very little, and thats why i have been asking you to provide more pics b/c the blue P5 side shot is dark and the Red P5 u showed me looks like its at stock ride height. again im not trying to discredit ur product , only curious

Chicken SOup - we'll try to get you some more pictures. The lowering as mentioned is 1.18" F&R. So it does lower the car, but not as much as the H&R which is ~ 0.6" more in the front, and 0.4" more in the rear. (and more so as the spring settles)

The Sport Spec are designed with daily use in mind while providing improved handling and response.

The lower your go doesn't mean the better it is.

TEIN b****! those 17's fit perfectly in the wheel well with no tucking

h&r, eibach, tein, all good quality, watch out for stuff like "intrax" and "drop zone"

So are you implying that ION Springs arent good quality...?
Its a hard decision b/c of my local roads which arent to smooth (NYC). So i dont know wut to do....if i could get better pics of the ION SPORT SPEC drop it would help me choose?

Chicken SOup - if you're not storing your car in the winter, then the TEINs maybe a little too low for NY. The TEIN springs do sag after awhile.

We're waiting for some pics from haig which he'll be taking tomorrow. It'll allow you to appreciate the reason why our springs only lower 1.18" F&R.
