Who has the best bang for you buck tuner with the most hp gains

So one of my friends has a 335 I BMW and they have a JB3 and a vishnu chip that runs around 500 for either one that will give 50-75 hp. Is there somethig out there like this for our cars? I just hate to pay 600 bucks or more to get like 25 hp. I know if they make it for BMW then someone has to be on it for Mazdaspeed. I'm talking chip alone!. My friend is runnign a 12.7 at the track with his car, when stock he was running closer to 14. What goodies do they have for us?

There is not chip option for us.

from what i know the tuning options for the ms3 are the cpe standback piggyback - the cobb ap flashing device - the exede piggyback - and the unichip piggyback - i heard something a while back that mazda had a few different ecu maps as well (but nothing dramatically different)

yeah, but that jsut sucks when th 335I is a much more expensive car, and you can buy a JB3 for 300 bucks which adds 60-70 HP. No other mods, just the chip. Somebody has got to develope something for our cars. Vishnu on the other hand wanted 1500 for their chip until the JB came out. My boy went from a 13.7 to mid 12's in his car with the chip and exhuast delete.

Different cars / different engines my friend. The speeds have a pretty delicate engine that is pretty hard to mess with. Thats why Cobb and others had such a hard time developing "flash tunes."

I love my speed but the 335 is a better car with more potential.

The 335i also has one more turbo than the MS3, and its only pushing 8.8 psi. Edmund's 335i was for "some reason" running .5 lb's of boost higher than a normal one, and they made a good 19 more whp on the same dyno. I could easily believe that just by upping the boost a few psi would gain you well over 60 hp.

I would love to have a 335i, but can't justify spending $41,000+ on a car that is only a little quicker than my current car. It does have a good advantage over the Speed3 in the 1/4 mile - traction.

there is no magical chip thats going to give you x amount of hp...on the other hand cai and dp could give close to 30hp on these vehicles...depends on the car tho.

throw some Radials on the speed. should be able to get into 12's

im going to pick up some after i get my DP, FPI's, FMIC, and AP

^ What he said, FMOS is a good example of showing what the MS3 is capable of. With just an intake and slicks he's running high 12's.

every car has the same potential just takes more money to get there. go full bolt on and stage 2 and run slicks and id love to see what happens to the 335i when u race him

Well, I do have a cobb sri and I'm getting ready to ge the pg turbo inlet and a test pipe. I also want to delete the 2 resonators. I'm hoping by the time I do this that maybe there is a little more aggressive software out, but if not Im sure I'll end up getting some anyway. I don't know if I would hang with my boys 335, he is running 12.4 with street tires. He is also in the process right now of upgrading to a bigger intercooler and cold air intake.

So, since I have the SRI and stage II cobb suspension already. What do you guys think the PG turbo inlet, test pipe, and resonator delete will do for me. Is the resonator delete just for sound, or does it free up the exhuast some?

Meh not really. Almost any car can be fast but you cant compare a platform like a vette z06, bmw 335i, supra, evo to a mazdaspeed. Even if you throw a huge turbo / forge the engine / external wastegate/ etc. your still only looking at 375ish whp. You can always engine swap but when you compare car to car your comparing the stock engine.

What kind of times are you running with your current mods?

ive only been to the track once when I had an intake, bpv, and test pipe. I ran a 13.6. I can launch better now though. With my tune I estimate I can get around 13.3.

That's pretty dam good. I would love to get mine ito the high 12's, but like I said, I'm gonna do all the hardward stuff first to my car and hope for a better tune to come along for just a little while. If nothing comes along, then I guess I'll just pick up one of the ones available now.

On the stock turbo with good driving, tires, major bolt ons (IC, CAI, bpv, exhaust) and a tune you should be in the 12's. Thats around 300 whp.

I just had my car dynod yesterday and i came in at 274 on a mustang dyno.
