2014 CX-5 Sport 6-M/T
2002-UP
Front 6x8" / 5x7" @ 2.75" *
Front seperate tweeters by mirrors. (2002.5-UP P5)
Rear 6" @ 4.25", 6" speakers fit the best and 6 1/2" can fit by cutting the rain guard, Thanks Sir Nuke.

i have seen that, but my question is...

has anyone tried to put 6.5'' speakers in the front? specifically Infinity Kappa 6.5 Components...

----------------------------------
C.M.M.D. 6-1/2" woofer with rubber surround Plus One design cone is 30% larger than standard 6-1/2"s
1" C.M.M.D. dome tweeter can be flush-, surface-, or angle-mounted
high-quality 2-way crossovers (high-pass/low-pass at 3500 Hz, 18 dB per octave)
frequency response 45-21,000 Hz
power range 2-90 watts RMS
peak power handling 270 watts
sensitivity 90 dB
top-mount depth 2-1/16"
----------------------------------

i would much rather get 6.5'' components for the front of my 2002 Protege 5 instead of some 5x7/6x8's...

:D

any idea where i can find one of those adaptor plates? preferably a link to somewhere online...

:D

Here is a link to my 6.5 front and rear components. I have the Polk momo's up front and polk ex3's in back. I used the Metra brackets in back. I made some brackets out of particle board in the front. I can check our Metra catalog at work tomorrow and get a model # for the front brackets.

D00D!!! that would rock!

btw :: i need to learn how to do this (http://www.sounddomain.com/member_pages/view_page.pl?page_id=123741&page=5)... i like how you s*** is totally hidden, much better than mounting it on the back of the rear seats!

Thank you very much!! I have heard nothing but praise so far from everyone. I really appreciate it. I'll get that model # for you tomorrow.

i like the way you put the rear tweeters in the dorr, but you should have hidden the crossovers. it kinda looks like they are laying in the map holder. but the rest looks good.

Wait

I read on a thread I started that the speakers in the rear pasenger side won't sound good even if you upgrade speakers? How come?

Hold UP

Hey Jelly Bean that is TIGHT the way you have everything set up. All in all how much did all that cost?
Did you do some stuff by yourself or was all made pro?

any word on the part number?

I'm sorry Cheese I totally forgot about that part number but I assure you I will look tommorow. RedP52002 - I did it myself. I am an installer at Circuit City in Central IL. I am in no way saying I am an audio god or claiming to be the Fishman but I think it turned out good and believe it or not there are some Circuit City and Best Buy installers out there that know what they are doing.

hey

if you want a great place to put your crossover without any trouble, when you rip the front door cover off there's a section of polystyrine (i carnt spel itt). take that off and glue the cross over there. that's what i've done. peice of cake. with the rear door i've done the same, but in the area just below the arm rest area.

and just for reference, i made my speaker brackets for the front out of 3mm aluminium. took a little while, but work great. i have 6.5's in the front and back doors.

cost`

Jelly, how much did that all cost you? and by any chance would you know any one (or anybody who's reading this) here is the D/FW area who can install it? or would it be better to install it myself?

According to www.polkaudio.com your speakers have a mounting depth of 2-5/16." I have a set of Eclipse 6.5"s which are fairly large. 2-7/8."

Judging on your install, do you think there is another 1/2" of clearance from the window when it is down?

How thick was that trim panel you made? 3/4"?

I think the adapter plate I made is out of 5/8 inch particle board. The speaker actually had room to fit depth wise but was too wide around to fit in the 5x7 opening. So I had to make that adapter, hope that makes sense. Your Eclipse should fit fine. RedP52002 are you asking how much did my speakers cost or everything I have?

That makes perfect sense, and it doesn't sound good for me. I had the same problem in my old cougar. The hole was 5.25" wide...but because of the cast baskets on the speakers, I had to pull them out a good inch and a half before I could get them to sink in the hole. You think there is more space in between the inner skin and the door panel?

Maybe its time for new speakers. These things are on install #3, but I have yet to hear a better sounding speaker in the $300 range.

Price

Jelly, I'm talking about everything you have in there, except for the XM radio things.

I got a short budget (as I'm sure everyone here does), so any info on good stuff for a good price would be great.

I look at the Cruthfield magazines but honestly I don't know what I;m looking for, it all looks good. I don't want to spend money on something that I think will sound great but when I install it, it sounds like crap.

I have purchased things from www.sounddomain.com on several occasions and been really satisfied. Watch for the sales and you'll get a good deal.

I bought a pair of 3-way CD-Tech speakers for my girlfriend's corolla last summer and received a free pair of matching 6.5" coaxial speakers along with a sound dampening kit.

Cheese, I finally have those model numbers for those adapter plates made by Metra. Sorry it took so long but I have been pretty busy as of late.

Metra 82-5600 adapts 5x7/6x8 to 5.25/6.5
Metra 82-7500 adapts oversized 3 hole to standard 5.25/6.5

Hope those help you.

RedP52002, I work at Circuit City and get a pretty good deal on car audio.
