Which Pistol to get?

hmm i been thinking about getting a gun and going to shooting range. what would be a good starter gun? for like under250

My personal opinion for a pistol would be to find a used Ruger Mark series .22 caliber pistol with at least a 6" barrel. They're loads of fun to shoot and ammo is inexpensive. New they are out of your price range (I think).

My brother-in-law just got a Savage Arms (?) 17 cal. rifle with a bull barrel from Sports Authority for about $175. He really likes his, though I noticed it didn't come with sights or scope or anything.

Good call. Everyone should have a .22 pistol in their arsenal (I don't yet unfortunately). You can shoot all day for 2 bucks. I second the Ruger Mark pistols, or a Browning Buckmark. If you're just wanting to shoot, might as well pick up a Ruger 10/22 for a 170 bucks. That was my first gun. Very easy to "mod" too with hi-cap mags and bull barrels and other fun stuff.

Had my Sig for about 7 years and I still love it. The Ex tried to take it when we divorced (hell no). Her cousin borrowed my SKS and refused to give it back so I kept the Sig I gave her for her Birthday.

A friend has an older HK .40 cal that is awfully nice.

shooting competition, its a skill thing, like archery but archery is kinda out of date. i agree with guns being used to kill people should be left to military/law enforcement but for recreational purposes (not killing living things) guns are fun.

whats REALLY fun is airsoft guns since you can shoot your friends all day at airsoft games.

I completely disagree. But i'm not gonna argue with you, I have my opinion and you have yours. As for the question i'd go with the Smith & Wesson, but a .40 cal for a little more knock down power. Here is a pic of my xmas present. Already shot at least 500 rounds!!
