Which license plate frame do you use?

License plate frame for the front and back of CX-5. I am trying to get rid of the dealer's frame, but w/o a nice frame the car doesn't look nice.

There are several designs in the US market. Most states now require slim design (i.e., the top of the frame between 2 screws must not block the state name at all. The choices are:

chrome or black?
If chrome, brush or polished mirror finish?
Slim bottom or regular bottom?
Mazda logo, Mazda word, Zoom Zoom?

Genuine Mazda frames are $35 and above. I kinda like the black Zoom Zoom frame bcoz the letters stands out shining. Is there other alternative source/vendor? I've checked ebay, amazon.

Thanks.

I just ordered a brushed version of the "zoom-zoom" frame for the front ($28), and brushed one with the mazda logo and "Mazda" for the back ($30). Got them from Amazon.

Mine is a chrome and black 2012 LA Kings Stanley Cup Champion model...(cheers2)

I took the dealer frames off and remounted with out any frames. Wasn't about to advertise the dealer for free...they got enough of my $$$$.

Does the CX-5 even come with a front license plate bracket or are you guys just screwing the front plates right onto the front bumper where the dimples are marked? My wife's CX-9 came with its own front license plate bracket. Come to think of it, all cars I've had in the past came with its specific license plate bracket.

^ Wantagh drilled the bumper even though I requested them not to. The day before I picked it up, it didn't have the holes in bumper :(. They didn't mount the plates though. I still haven't mounted my plates. It's been nearly four months.

Here's what I'm using. Gloss black frame for a cleaner matching look. Black Mica actually looks nearly charcoal with the mica flakes at some angles, so I might respray the frame with metallic silver and put a coat or two of gloss black on it.

I have these:

Just noticed they also come in black - would've preferred that at the time of purchase, oh well.

Word of caution if your frame covers your state, or any info on the plate - well at least here in NJ a friend got a ticket for that.. The frame was 1" thick and covered the words 'New Jersey'. Stopped for something else but got that too.

I got the Weathertechs that have the clear cover. Price Plus at 30. each but very nice, clean look.
