Where to place jack stands under Protege 5?

I know this is an odd/dumb question but i have no idea where to safely put jack stands on a P-5. The factory jack has a slot in the top and that sits right in a groove under the body. Do i sit that lip under the body on top of the stands? Trying to change brakes and rotors and need to get the front wheels off. Thanks.

you're in the wrong section....this is for the Mazda 5, not the Mazda protege 5

You will have to excuse me Mr. Moderator. Looks like you have a yellow PROTEGE 5? Do you know the answer to my question? Even if it is the wrong section you could just answer anyway correct? I dont know how to properly use this board yet and i just need help with this problem. Does anyone else have the ability to answer this incorrectly posted question? I dont get irritated easily but i do need help on those j-stands. Thanks guys.

lol wow....

anyways.... you can use jack stands on the frame of the car directly behind the front wheel well or directly in front of the rear wheel well...

thank you Mr. Forum Poster

Here is a pic if it helps.

We are just pulling your leg man. Good luck with the car.

never jack the car on stands using the 'normal lift position', the tab on your oem jack is designed for that slot, the tabs on the jack stand are .75" and not very forgiving to misplacement and possibly bend the tab making it difficult to use the oem jack. I actually use old hockey pucks inserted into my hydraulic car lift. Very hard ruber so no scratching of paint off the car.

I saw your pics Dean. I have worked on alot of trucks and basically you just put the stands under the axel. When i look under the Protege 5 everything looks delicate and easy to break. Could you describe the point at which you have the stands in the photos sitting on. Front and back if you can. If anyone has a picture that would be great too. I am working on my car with little or no money so i cant afford to break anything. Thanks for dealing with my questions and all help is greatly appreciated.

If you look at the tab on the car's frame, you'll see two rounded spots in the front and rear. You place the jack between those. Does that make sense?

I had our Mazda5 up for installing winter tires and it was fairly obvious where the jacking points are, just where people have said in this thread. Should be in the owners manual too. But what wasn't obvious was where the jack stands would go if I used the jacking points to lift with the hydraulic jack. (Which I didn't do for my quick wheel swap.) On other cars I would have lifted in the middle at a crossmember and placed jack stands at the jacking points. Where exactly would you lift on a Mazda5 or P5 if you wanted to put it on jack stands at the jacking points?
