99 Mazda Protege LX
Hello, I just love forums...so thanks for being here. Maybe someone can help me. I just had the M (for Mazda) emblem taken off my front grille. I can find chrome colored ones, but mine are gold...and I just spent over 2 hours searching the internet for this part. I believe the part number is GE4T-51-731...but I do not know if that is for the chrome one or both.

Anybody have a suggestion where I can find this part. I love the look of my Mazda, and this really bums me out.

Thanks! Mickie

Every emblem on the car is gold.

Are you saying that the first owner had each of them specially coated? If you say, yes, I will believe you. It just never occurred to me. And these emblems have no pitting or loss of color...they aren't as glossy as they were when I first bought them, but whomever coated them did one hell of a job. Thanks for the info.

That's what I believe. Well, the dealer probably had it done to sell as a special package. The vacuum deposition process used for making 'gold' emblems is the same as the one used on the raw plastic emblems to make them 'chrome'

Spray paint can look like a good professional it even oem job if it's don't right...

Tweety, If I try the spray paint method, do you recommend that I sand the chrome down a bit? And, do you have a recommendation for which kind of spray paint you would use? Thanks for the idea. Great fix that doesn't cost to much in time or money.

Sand it and there's some stuff you'll need to get to make it stick to the plastic. Go to lowes and get some good paint DO NOT go cheap on the paint. They have some stuff that is about $5 bucks a can that works great. Then put wax in it next time you wash your car so it doesn't fade.
