Where is the VSS? (Transmission mounted Speed Sensor)

I called a yard about a transmission. They guy is going to send me a picture tomorrow of the trans, I told him I needed a VSS, so the pic is for me to make sure the trans has one... Does anybody have a pic of where it is though? I've been searching Google, and quite honestly it's useless. If lacking a picture, could anyone simply describe where the sensor is? I'm ready to knock this trans issue out, this is the only thing in the way... (the yard's trans is off of a '97 626)

Just an FYI...

If your car has ABS then your car gets its speed info from the wheel speed sensors not the transmission...

So you won't have to worry about the tranny VSS.

I'm well aware of that. My car does not have ABS, this is why I'm asking about the VSS. Thank you though

OK, IIRC, that it is called "input turbine speed sensor" and it is the only thing on top of the tranny with a wire going to it. Probably hidden if you have oem intake. Just has a retaining bolt - 10mm and pulls right out.

In other news, I replaced mine thinking it was the issue I had with manual mode not downshifting like it should but wasn't the issue so I have an extra one somewhere in my parts boxes. Bad news is I'm not sure how long it may take to find it. Mine is also non-ABS car too but is sportronic, not sure if reg auto would be same sensor or what trans OP has. Guess the part number will be on the box tho.................

OK... I found this... It might help...

The VSS connector is different for the automatic tranny... It is a three wire.

Number 1 in the diagrams is the VSS connector..

PS... Try to make sure the VSS output data of the 626 tranny is compatible with our ECU... (I have no idea... just seems like it could be an issue ???)
