I've been in contact with Hiboost for the past month (offering me a good deal on his kit), but every time we get close to getting a deal together for a protege turbo kit, he seems to just disappear (not returning emails).

I may have to look at other options (as above) for turbo kits. Any help is welcome.

There is a complete brand new MAM kit in the F.S for $2400. No waiting.

I think a lot of people on here would agree... DO NOT BUY FROM HI-BOOST! Just like he is doing to you now, he will do even worse when he gets your money. I bought the hi-boost kit and was terribly disappointed with several things like the casting of the pipes, how cluttered the bay looks, how tight and limited it fits, the mapping (especially compensation) is not even close. Then there was the issue of not getting the instruction manual and being stuck for weeks trying to install the kit because he doesnt return calls. I had to wait forever for it to show up because customs held it. The turbo manifold was the absolute worst I have ever seen in my life for ANY car. It did not line-up with the exhaust ports on the car, the exit was more oval than round and had to be grinded out, absolutely NO clearance to tighten the manifold to the head... I could go on forever.

This is my 4th go around with my Protege. My advice is to buy your kit one piece at a time. Sounds like a headache I know, but there are so many suppliers that specialize in each area. Its the only way to get a good kit.

The STEEDSPEED turbo manifold IS the BEST!!! Hands down period. Depending on how much power you want to go, choose a T2 or T3/T4 flange from him. Then find a matching turbo for your needs, but I highly recommend a ball bearing twin scroll with anti-surge.

Then decide on what control you want. Standalone or piggyback. They both have their pros and cons, but either way save enough to buy a J&S safeguard to go with it. Be careful of compatibility when you decide. There are plenty of us that wish they had this BEFORE their last rebuild. $500 would have saved thousands and plus it will help you tune so you dont have to buy an ecu pre-mapped.

Dont skimp on things that support the turbo system! It will come back and bite you in the ass. For example: Do not even think of going to the dark side if you cannot afford an AFR gauge! Our oiling system sucks, but DocB has the solution for that. Do a search on everything before you buy. See what headaches and accomplishments others have had FIRST. Learn from our mistakes so you can spend the hard earned cash on upgrades and NOT repairs. And most of all, have a back up car to drive so you dont need to rush. Thats my biggest regret is always not doing it right the first time. I can only imagine what I would have if I took the time and did my homework first.

I hope I can speak for everyone here, please take some photos while you are going along. I know I like to see what others are doing. Plus if you run into a roadblock and need help, the pictures can tell us more than what you can probably describe. There are a ton of people on this forum that are experts on every nut and bolt. They are here because they like to share their knowledge. It will never hurt to ask before you act, so just remember to utilize the resources and you'll do just fine.

You actually spoke to a real person on the phone at hiboost. That's a step most people don't even get to. Hiboost is a great kit. Gettting it from them is a different story. People I know have waited five to six months for the kit to arrive. Best bet is to do a custom set up or find a kit already together and ready to go. Just my two pennies.

I've already got my hands on another kit. I won't be dealing with Hiboost again, too bad the guy has very poor customer service, and a BS'er over the phone.
