I just bought the HKS. Its more expensive but its made from aluminum and I like that(probably doesn't make a differance). I also think it looks nicer but thats just me. Most importantly I was tired of waiting! Ill let you all know how I like it when it comes in.

Metal gets heat soaked but that doesn't matter anyways since we are intercooled and ambient temps are reached while moving. Nice...let us know how everything works out.

So how can you tell which Cobb intake was built with parts supplied from the bad parts vendor? Arn't they also changing something on the intake for the better?

Reason I ask is because i'm interested in purchasing one, but want to make sure it's the right setup.

I sold my COBB SRI for $219 shipped a few weeks back. Stoke the fire while it's hot, as they say.

I was planning on getting a Street Unit red COBB SRI, but at this point there's no light at the end of the tunnel. So I canceled my pre-order and bought a red powdercoated CP-E CAI.

yeah im waiting for a black cobb sri from su.. i was gonna get the cpe cai....but its a lot of money

I said the same thing, but what's $120 in 2 more months? I waste that much a month for sure. So I said screw it! And my CP-E intake will be here tomorrow!

I'm hoping mine will be in Friday so I can install this weekend in time for the huge meet @ CP-E the following Saturday.

I spoke to someone at cobb yesterday while ordering the sts and asked about the sri. He said that they are still showing a three week period before they start shipping. the sts is also on bo for 2-3 weeks.

hope this helps.

Seams like Cobb has a supplier problem. They need to get that streightened out before they loose more buisness. I just canceled my SRI order and bought a Fujita.

Buy some ****** PVC pipe, throw a filter on the end, and you've got a cobb short ram intake right there! ;) Or buy a different brand off ebay, things are much cheaper and easier to get on there!

Ummm, what abut the velocity stack and air flow straightener?? That can't be replicated on some PVC piping by any conventional means. Obviously COBB put good R&D into the SRI, and it has paid off with their sales and popularity. I am making the wait. Luckily for me I will have just broken in the motor by the time the intake arrives.

Or you could do the same thing with a longer pipe and make a CAI. I hope you're joking..

I spoke with Cobb earlier today and I must say it was a good experience.

The Cobb intake is on roughly a 4-6 week backorder because of the fact they had to switch suppliers. The supplier who was making their MAF housing pieces kept going further and further away from their specs. Until someone finally pointed it out and they rectified the situation. So that's why there's a hold up. It's not so much Cobb's fault. I'd rather they do what they did rather than keep sending out potentially faulty products while they work with another vendor.

Are you guys really that impatient where you can't wait a little while? It's not like it's an absolute necessity for your car to perform, period. Not like we've got any competitions coming up and you've GOT to have an intake ready for Saturday's track day. Give me a break. That's what happens with modding though, burns a ****** hole in your wallet.

Also, they were kind enough to explain some of the benefits of their new BPV (piston-style, but with rubber seals instead of metal-on-metal like other ones). I'll be happy to wait for both products and install them on my car. That's a quality company right there.
