When will the "3" receive a refresh?

I realize that the 2010 Mazda 3 is a "new" model, but I'm wondering if there is any word/rumor/thoughts on when it might be due for a refresh? The reason I ask is, while I really like the car, I just can't get over that fugly grille (obviously, a taste thing and YMMV).

So... I'm just wondering if Mazda may have something a bit, um, less "happy" in the works.

My guess is it probably will not change until around 2015. I notice some other manufacturers are switching to huge grills. Don't know if it's because of design trends or as horsepower increases they may be opening the grill area up to provide additional cooling air.

I'd expect a light refresh in 3 years or so much like the last gen... probably do the typical add/remove color code options every year or 2

Agreed! I'm not a big fan of the "batmobile" school of design - give me a nice clean Audi S5 for style any day of the week. I'm wondering if there is/will be an aftermarket mesh grille for the 3/'speed3 - that might clean it up nicely.

They just released the facelifted Mazda6... and it doesn't have the smiley face... so... there might be hope for a reduction of the smile?
