wheel rotation

I was rotating my tires today and could not see any indication of a directional tire. I still swapped LF/LR RF/RR but am showing more wear on the left than on the right. (shorter axle, more spin, more left turns, weight bias of driver blah blah blah)

Are these ok to rotate in the standard fashion as opposed to the way I just did?

Look at the camber on our wheels this will play a role as well. It is quite a bit of negative camber just stock for performance so that would cause the insides to wear more but not sure why only one side vs the other.

Besides you said you had 10k and you should rotate these tires much more often like 3-5k. Not only that as they wear they will need to be balanced again so I would just go spend a few bucks to have it done.

this is my 3rd rotation in 10k. Alignment was done by the dealer when my springs were installed. I am using camber plates as well. Now odd wear by anymeans. Just more wear on other tires.

It is a human trait in left hand drive cars to corner harder to the right than to the left. I think it is a psyclogical thing because you can see better.

Oddly enough, I can corner on a motorcycle more easily to the left than I can to the right. I thought that was psychological as well until I realized it was due to direction of crankshaft rotation.

Camber is not why the tires wear. It is the toe that does that. Front drive cars have a lot of it so that is why you get wear on the inside. One side will wear more if you mainly turn one direction which I do actually. My left side tires always wear more than the others because I make a lot of right turns. But when I lived in the mountains they would wear evenly from left to right.

It is a good idea to have them balanced as well though. Hope that helps...

There is negative camber on these cars so the outer edge of the tire hardly contacts the ground. This will certainly cause more wear to the insides of the tires first. Maybe not this particular situation but you get the idea.

seriously go look it up somewhere. negative camber will not cause your tires to wear. Scrubbing will do that and thats where toe in/out comes in to play. Toe will scrub the tires just a little. That is where the wear comes from. Lots of race set ups use tons of negative camber and you won't see them wear through to the cords on the inside of the tires. If you think about it then you will see what I mean.

My first rotation from the dealership @ 5000mi was a front/rear swap...

I just did one myself over the weekend (@ 8500mi), and I brought the rears forward and crossed the fronts to the rear. Haven't noticed any issues yet...
I can't make any comments on tire wear since autox isn't exactly nice to street tires...
