Whats your favorite wax...?

So you liked how Zymol worked...? How does it compare to Meguiar's?

Well, the paint was 12 years old on the GTI but when I did the complete 3-step Meguiars process, it would make even the oldest paint look fantastic. This would allow me to max it about 4 times a year. Im sure if I used the Zymol, I would have to apply it more often just to keep the shine there.

If you have the time, Meguiars 3-step if very effective but time consuming.

Thats why i enjoy Zaino it literaly lasts 6 months

Zaino is great I used it on my S2000. I used Meg NXT the other day for my first Wax. I claybar'd the car and then waxed it.

I use NXT when i have the time to give the car a good waxing, and every other week or so when I wash the car I use Meguiars Quick Detailer after I dry. Keeps the car nice and glossy even after a week or two of it being parked on campus.

Zaino is the best hands down in my book.

I still have some nxt, gold and 26 I think it is.

If your car is silver. Use Zaino, 26 or another good natural base stock wax.

When I put Zaino on my 06 silver Civic it damn near looked like chrome. It was hard to explain. Everything else looked like it had been waxed for a day or so and then bla.

NXT makes darker colors pop great and looks deep and wet if done right. But only last a few days. Gold doesn't pop the color as much as NXT but last longer.

Ive also had good resul;ts with Turtle Wax Ice. Easy as hell to use. If you clay out a car then polish it. The ICE looks good and wears well. Plus its easy to use.

But with any detail job. The pretty is in the details.....

Best Wax

I stepped up from Meguairs Gold to NXT Generation, use it on all my 'fleet' and it seems to do a good job. NXT speed detailer keeps them clean 'n shiny, between waxes, and there is a big difference once they are clayed ! Heard good reports about Zaino, but never tried it -
I'm sorta brand faithful, and will stay with Meguiars ! (flash)

Rejex

I've used Rejex for a couple of years on several cars including Corvettes, Hondas and now the MS3. The shine is fantastic and it's easy to apply. I ran a little test on my last Mazda3 versus several other waxes to see which actually lasted longest. My criteria was beading and the ability to resist dust and dirt buildup. Rejex was the winner. It outlasted the others by more than 3 months... Unlike some other products, once cured you can apply additional coats. I've also heard great things about Zaino but have not tried it...

NXT is awesome stuff, goes on easy and comes off easy and last a good time and looks good.

Tried Turtle Wax Ice stuff a while ago, looked good but didn't last very long. But again easy on and off.

I've read a lot of Corvette and Cadillac guys love this stuff...but I guess its through mail order only...?

They dont love the stuff... they are friggin worshipers of the stuff... want to stir some s*** on a vette forum.. just say: XYZ is better than Zaino... youll get banned... your better off putting 24 inch spinners in your vette than claiming you dont use Zaino... :D

And no I dont use Zaino... NXT is easier to find and works great.. keep the wax out of the black sidemirror trim pieces tho... its a b**** to remove from plastic specially pitted one like the mirrors

Thanks for the tip!!!

Do you have to clay a one month old car...? Can you find this clay stuff locally; I've never really looked for it though... Any brand OK to use?
Tell me more about this clay stuff...is it really time consuming...?

Clay bar was amazing. I did both my 6 month old MS3 and my wifes 3 yr old Avalon and it made both of them look new again. I would clay a new car again before applying a wax since the clay removes everything in the paint so you can wax easier and it comes out looking much better for the time spent in waxing.

Its very easy to do as well. After the car is washed and clean you just spray a panel with detailer then take the clay in your hand and rub it across the panel and whipe clean with a microfiber towel. Its super easy to do and requires no where as much work as waxing does.

I use all Meguiars stuff so their clay bar worked great and comes with 2 bars of clay. 1 bar did both our cars and still is good to use again so the other bar is spare. I use the NXT wax and seem to like it just fine for a locally supplied product.

They also have a new Ultimate detailer which shines more then the previous speed detailer so that is something you can use to keep the car looking good. I havent actually washed my car in 4 weeks but whipe it clean daily or every other day with this stuff on a microfiber towel and it looks detailed every day. I can keep it looking like this until it rains then I have to actually wash it.

The correct website to order is http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc

With Zaino, you can go simple if you want to (All In One or AIO product), or you can layer. It is your choice, and the shine is proportional to the effort you put in. Either way, even the most simple of Zaino jobs will blow your mind. I've been using the stuff for a while now, and it consistently impresses the hell out of me. It doesn't create any chalky white residue on plastics, in fact you can run right over most trim pieces with regular Zaino products. Everything works as intended, and there is no false promises, and I like that. Shipping is quick, so if you order from them you'll get it faster then if you spend time deliberating on this forum of which one to use.

Here, I'll outline some ways to go with the products:

Regardless of which way you'd like to go, make sure to do this prep-work first. It only needs to be done once the very first time you do the car.

Wash the car down with DAWN, dry it.
Wash it again with DAWN, dry it. (This removes all resemblance of wax or any dirt on the car completely. Do not leave the car like this, make sure to at least put one coat of Zaino on the car first.)
Use the Clay bar (Z-18) with the lubricant being a high dilution of water to Z-7 car wash. Clay the whole car with lots of this lube. Whether your car is 1 day old, or 10 years old, CLAY THE CAR. Trust me, you'll see the value in this.
Wash the car down with DAWN again, and dry it, removing any clay residue.

Now, you've got options!

The EASY way, simplest and cheapest -
Use Zaino All-in-One, Z-AIO as its known. Just wipe on, and wipe off, and you're done.
Additionally, you can use Z-CS on top of that.

The SOMEWHAT EASY, layered way, a bit more complex but ultimately a better, more deep finish -
Use Z-5 Swirl mark remover with the ZFX Additive kit. Wipe off.
Wipe the car down with Z-6 on each layer
Use Z-2 Pro polish with the ZFX additive kit. Wipe off. Repeat as much as you dare!
Additionally, you can use Z-CS on top of that.

The HARD, TIME CONSUMING, multi-layered show-car way -
Use Z-AIO, wipe off
Use Z-6 between layers
Do 2 coats of Z-5 with ZFX
Do 3 coats of Z-2 with ZFX
Apply Z-CS on top of that
Spray Z-8 Grand Finale detail spray.
Go win a car show.

So, the overall moral of the post is to point out that it doesn't have to be expensive at all. The Z-AIO is $26.95, and will do the car 16 times. You can do this all by itself, or you can layer, and mix-match products. It is up to you. My suggestion is to get a bottle of Z-AIO, ZFX Additive, Z-5, Z-2, two bottles of Z-7 car wash, two bottles of Z-6 spray, one Z-18 clay bar (comes with 2), and optionally get the Z-16 Tire gloss, Z-14 Plastic polish, Z-12 Glass polish, and the Z-CS clear seal, or Z-8 Grand Finale car detail spray for shows.

+1 and (+1000 for the Z-CS)

I Have be using the Zaino products for 3 years now and i love it. I feel the product is well worth the money and time on the car.

Yup. The big war is between Zaino and Rejex. I'm in the Rejex camp. You get banned when you say you spend as much time waxing your Mazda as you do your Corvettes...:)

I want to wax my new Mazdaspeed3. I have been a long time user of Meguiar's and I'd like to try something new or better.

At the local auto show a couple of weeks ago I saw a booth for Ibiz Wax; the sales presentation was pretty impressive...but too gimicky...
I searched online for this product and it has mixed reviews. Some people swear by it and most don't care for it.

I'm tempted to try the new Meguiar's NXT wax... Being a long time user of their Gold Class wax, I figure this new NXT should be pretty good or even better.

There is also Zymol that I've heard very good things about...

What do you guys use...? Whats your favorite...?

I just went on the Zymol website and they have a wax for $30,000!!!! Is this a joke?

Over the counter there just aren't many products that have great durability. And as for as optics go I really believe that they don't hold a candle to quality specialist products. I can can see the diff because I have tried so many. But honestly once you get high end there really isn't much difference. You have a silver car so I have a couple of recommendations. Carnabua waxes are hard to beat when it comes to deepness and wetness. But do tend to fall just shy of synthetics when it comes to durability. However quality carnaubas do have great lasting power. For silver and lighter colors I really like P21S carnauba wax. It gives great pop. Jeff's Werkstatt acyrlic jett (and AJT=trigger) give great pop to lighter colors and they are synthetics. Collinite 845 really brightens. I don't like it on dark colors because of that but it does have great durability for a wax. I love Optimum opti-seal. It is probably the easiest product to use. I have been amazed at its optics and even its durability is really good. I like it because you can put it under or over any carnauba wax. So you can really double up the protection factor. For a single car owner the 8oz bottle will probably last you the life of the car! It is so simple and effeciant. These are my suggestions for you color. If you want to know about any others shoot me a pm. I have and have tried tons of LSP (last step products) including Zymol which you mentioned.

Happy waxing!

P.S. check out the detailing section. There is some good info in there about your other questions.

No way would I wash the car with dawn, wax it, wash with dawn, clay then wash again.

That is just crazy and pointless to do especially on a car thats paint is paper thin any how. Honestly guys this isnt a garaged ferrari or anything. To wax a car only to strip it again with dish soap seems pointless or I am really missing something here.

I washed mine once then clay bar and wax. No need to cont to wash it after since the microfiber towel and detail spray removes everything. I suppose if you wanted to get crazy with it another wash after clay wouldnt hurt but I didnt see the need and my car came out great.
