What's up with the 1.8 coil packs?

What's up with the 1.8 coil packs? I have seen them mentioned, but is there any real advantage?

The coil packs of the 1.6 L protege engine.. supposedly they are a higher voltage or something..

oh man I am lost...So the 1.6L are being said to be better on a 2.0l? or the 1.8L are better for a 1.6L? or what else?...sorry

Ya, the Protege ignition system is pretty good, I'm not sure why you'd need better. Unless you're misfiring, there's no need, and you'd need some crazy high power levels to need to upgrade the ignition system....

the upgraded 1.8L coil packs sends a stronger spark. Not sure anyone in the NA build world of protege needs them but they are a nice inexpensive upgrade.

What is the proof of this stonger spark? They would be great if we increased compression well above what we run stock. Might smooth things out too.

did the 1.8 have the "wasted spark" system the 2.0 have? I think they have individual coilpacks and wires

I think everyone is refering to the ignition on the 1.8l that has four spark plug wires and two coils are located at the front driver's side corner where the oil cap is. (thead back on track) I don't see how the spark is any better than the one currently in our engines. Why? Because no new transformer is used in installation. I wouldn't waste my money on it although some might have a preference strong enough for
