2003.5 silver MSP
Just curious as to what my 2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege is worth. It's silver with the factory racing hearts. I just put some hankook ventus 225/45/17's on it a few thousand miles ago. The car is flawless(no dings), i only know of one minor(~1" long) scratch on the whole car. Interior is spotless also. it only has 27,xxx miles on it.
Mods:
custom fmic
SRI w/ aem dryflow filter
RS BOV
autometer carbon fiber boost gauge

Just wanting to get an idea of what it's worth. The previous owner was religious about changing the oil every 2-3k with mobil 1 synthetic. I have done the same. I'm not saying i'm going to sell it tomorrow, but may in the next few months. Thanks in advance.

I would say don't expect to get anymore than $13K for it tops from my own personal experience and watching the prices of these since their beginning. I know the books MAY say they re worth more..but the market dictates otherwise...and dont even think abut trading it in...P5's actually get a better trade in than the MSP.

well, if you're going to trade it in, you need to educate yourself and pay for a 1 day or 1 week subscription for galves.com. they're what the dealers use to determine the value of the car, often called the 'black book'. if you're selling privately, you can just use kbb or edmunds. mods don't really do much for the value, especially if you're going to a dealership with it. the less mods you have on it the better.

Such a shame. I paid 14,550 about 5-6 months ago. Maybe i can get 14k out of it? That's not much above my payoff :(

well, just so that you guys get an idea, my msp had about 55k miles on it. dealership gave me around $9k for it. don't expect much. if you are patient you can try to sell it privately and get a few grand more out of it

I will definitely be selling it privately. No stealerships here. I'm hoping for a 16 year old to come up getting ready to get their licence, see the fmic and bov, and use mommy and daddy's money to buy it. Who knows. Thanks
Derrick

I agree with the $13k estimate. Maybe a few hundred more if you're willing to wait around for a buyer.

the mileage is the best thing you have going for you right now. thats exceptionally low for a 3 to 4 year old car. i rarely see a protege on a used car lot with much less than 60k or 70k these days.

Yea well i guess we'll see then. Thanks for all the input guys. The low mileage and how clean the car is should help me out hopefully. I hate to part with it, i have loved the car but i have a big project with the turbo/stroker stang that i'm trying to finish up. Once i get the stang finished(early-mid spring) the MSP will be up for sale and i'll buy another dd.

Not all dealers go by galves.com.. Actually, I doubt anyone in this area has even heard of it.. Dealerships in our area usually use kbb or nada (kbb more than nada).. Might want to check around in your area and see if you can find out what the dealerships use to value a car..

And Im sure you now realize this, but you overpaid for it.. I paid 14 for mine out the door.. It has a few mods on it and is in immaculate shape (no dings or dents or scratches) and Im probably going to keep it since its not worth selling at this point in time..

Itsslow-Maybe i paid 550 more than it was worth, but the car was so clean with such low miles(18k when i bought it) that i thought i did decent and i had a good piece of mind since the owner was older.

Familia323-Add about 13,700 and it's yours! haha

Well it's official, it will be forsale tonight in the classifieds, i've got the pics just need to post them up. PM me if any of you are interested. Thanks
Derrick
