What way is there to tell if your CX-7 is FWD or AWD?

Because my dealers Information says my car is AWD when I take it in for service, but when I pull the car fax it says FWD, and the salesmen also told me it was FWD. I realllllllllllly Wanna know! Thanks for any help in advance!

I had a similar issue when my insurance company tried to access my info. It pulled information saying my car was FWD. Needless to say I placed a call to the dealer to confirm what I had purchased. They assured me that the insurance info was wrong & I did get an AWD as intended. It does seem like not all sources are created equal. Have you tried going to the owner's tab at www.mazdausa.com? When you enter your vin, it should pop up info about your car. At that site and also when I had a consult for some body work, my vin showed that my car was AWD (as I expected and intended. It listed it as 4WD instead of AWD but I got the meaning.)

I don't get why your dealer's salesmen and other records aren't in synch. Good luck.

this is dumb

just get under the damn car and search for FRONT and rEAR AXLES!!

there should also be a big axle from the transmission to the back of the car also known as DRIVE SHAFT..

GOSH....mazda geniouses

C'mon... lighten-up. :)

Not *everyone* is a gearhead who knows anything about cars and how they work. You could put my car on a shop lift and ask my wife to point to a drive shaft, transfer case or any other part other than a shock absorber and a muffler and she'd have no clue what she's looking at.

There's no need to ridicule someone coming here and asking sincere questions. Making them feel dumb doesn't make you smarter.

Let's try & be nice. :)

Thanks for weighing in & helping keep things kinder CX7_Scott & Mazda3. (As someone who just knows I love to drive my CX-7 but have no idea why or how it works so well, I appreciate it.)

Damn it, go park it in your drive way and look between the rear wheels. Is there a big black pumpkin? If so, AWD. Is there a pole that's *NOT* the exhaust running back there? That's the drive shaft and it's AWD.

Or just have some fun, Go to a gravel parking lot and have at it from a stop. Then go look at the burnout marks. See if their is 2 tracks or 4 :)

Last warning to keep this thread civil. KNOWONE needs to be made to feel stupid for asking a question. We gather here for two reasons, to talk to people who share an interest in cars, and for those with more experience to help the ones who don't. We can help people without making them sorry they asked a question.

Thank you
