I have a 2001 Mazda MP3, but since there are hardly any people on here that have one, i thought i would ask some MSP owners since the cars are practically alike. I want to get a new exhaust system for my MP3, but i have no idea what type i should get or anything. I am really new the the exhaust world so i have no idea what im looking for. The system i have now is the racing beats system that came with the car. 2". I already replace the stock exhaust header with an after market one, but i want to get a bigger, better exhaust system. I need your thoughts on if me replacing the header was a good idea, what systems you put on your car, and what you think i should do to mine. I love details! So lay it on me! Thanks!!

Personally, I have the CorkSport Power Series 80 mm exhaust system. It sounds great, but as far as performance goes I'm not sure how big a difference it has since I bought the car with it previously installed.

What do u suggest for a turbo back exhaust. There is not many options for the msp. I'm also looking to get one for mine.

the only vendor that makes a downpipe and exhaust for our cars now is corksport. You can keep your eyes peeled for a P.E.P downpipe. There is also the GHL downpipe, but I haven't seen one pop up for a while.

Thanks spiced. I'll keep a look out and search a little bit. I'll let u know if if I find anything

Pope makes downpipes still, not too many cat back out, I had an exhaust shop bend up a mid pipe(SS) and I welded on my own muffler. I have a Mam mani, 3" pope downpipe, highflow 3" cat, then 2.5 mid pipe with a 2.5 twinloop muffler. Its quiet since I dont like the import sound.....other then subarus

I still have the stock muffler just had a straight pipe cut and welded in eliminating the cat and restrictions. The car sounds good IMO. not too loud and is a cheaper alternative than buying a whole setup.

I had a tiny pin hole exhaust leak on my MSP once where the support bracket was welded to my muffler. I noticed because I could smell it and there is noway I would live with that for more than a day or two.

I also have driven a C6 with cats removed. Within a minute or two I was nauseous and had a headache. It was retarded. When I installed headers on my C6 I bought the hi-flow cats and my numbers haven't shown even the tiniest hint of lower performance compared to my friends without cats.

If ultimate performance is what you are after, then I can't argue. No cats is going to be better than cats every time. However, the trade-off of unmeasurable performance gain vs massive headache is not even a question.

obviously didn't read my last post(#4). By the way Pope doesn't make his downpipe anymore. CR3 Motorsports is taking over production of them.

I have the pope 3" down pipe alone with a 3" catless midpipe, and a greddy sp2 catback. I love this setup and dont plan on changing it. Well I might thoss in a race cat sooner or later but thats a maybe.

im running the 2.5" sls catless j-midpipe with custom 2.5" piping to a apexi 3" muffler, sounds very good but its loud. I was running a greddy sp2 before the apexi and it sounded real good but not to loud
