i feel i lug around too many tools (complete tool kit) and its heavy and unnecessary. which tools do you feel are most necessary to have just in case something happens while you're on the road?

Leatherman multi tool, metric socket set, screwdrivers, fuses, vice grips, roadside kit(warning triangles, jumper cables, tire pressure gauge) funnel and at least one jug of coolant.

Pair of pliers, cutter or dikes, razor knife, screwdriver, Metric socket set up to 12mm, and my Mag Lite

Craftsman 152 piece set. I carry it everywhere with me not heavy and in a relatively small box

I could rebuild my tranny or completeley disassemble my car on the side of the road... if I needed to! 120lbs+ worth; aluminum floor jack though :) toolset, 2 jackstands, compression tester, radiator hoses, misc. hoses, brake bleeder, oil return line, ultra grey, duct tape, elec tape, heatresistant tape, flashlight, replacement belts, fuel injectors, coolant, misc. wire, oil, gear oil, seafoam, soldering iron, 12v converter, and all detailing supplies.

Overkill... so far!

Sounds like me. When I got to an autoX people look at me like I'm nuts because of my box with sockets, box with wrenches, allen set, floor jack, 2 jack stands, fluids, 32mm socket for axles, and the 29mm for the oil cooler sandwich plate. Give me 2 days on the side of the road and I can to a complete rebuild :) No duct tape or zip ties needed here.
